650ml brown bottle. "Limitied Edition". Deep brown pour, big dense foam on top, beige and long lasting. Sticky lace rings. Aroma - roasty, some dark choclate with pine hop notes. Taste has dark malts, chocolate and roast, pine hops, spicy hops. Finish has roast and chocoalte and spicy pine hop. Big bitterness in the finish, dark malts, roast and lasting bitterness. A solid black IPA that has excellent bitterness and lengthy hop spiciness. Ferris (15586) - Burnaby, British Columbia, CANADA - AUG 28, 2013
Bottle - Roast malts and some piney, spicey hops. Jet black with a rich brown head. Dark roast chocolate malts, some dark fruit and a bitter hoppy finish. You also get a bit of alcohol heat at the end, but I must admit this is one of my favorite Tree brews. Nicely done. Alpha10 (759) - Ontario, CANADA - AUG 10, 2013
2013/08/10 - Pours a dark drown/ deep ruby colour with a large, frothy, tan head that lingers and laces nicely. Aroma is dark fruits, molasses, toffee and dark cocoa. Taste is similar to nose with a bitter cocoa and a hop aftertaste Mouthfeel is medium with average carbonation and a bitter, drying finish. Interesting beer. Well balanced and rather enjoyable.

Noire. Beau collet beige moka. Entré sucré mais vite coupé par une forte amertume. Houblonné. Torréfié. Fruit noire. Résineuse. Ananas. Chocolat noir. Excellente. pushkinwow (2799) - Ottawa, CANADA - AUG 1, 2013
Bomber from the LCBO in celebration of IPA day. Dark mahogany with a very light and bubbly mocha head that settles down nicely. Wet earthy hops with a nice resinous aroma, some semi-roasted malts which seem out of place but actually work well, hints of molasses as well. Moderate carbonation and body, smooth with some initial sweetness that balances out the bitterness, a wet dryness if that makes sense on the finish. Tasty.

650ml bottle [8.2% abv as per label. Thanx to Antonie and Patrick!]. Darkest brown colour with average, firm, frothy to creamy, fairly lasting, moderately lacing, beige to tan head. Dark malty aroma with a roasty touch, hints of coffee, a touch of ashes, cautious hints of blue and other dark berries, herbal and earthy hoppy overtones. Taste is dry to bitter hoppy, minimally sweet fruity undertones, hints of blue and dark berries, some milk chocolate and dark bitter chocolate; lasting bitter finish. Black IPA with a somehow unpresent, supplementing malt basis, very integrated flavours making it hard to set a demarcation line between hop and malt partitions. And exactly therefore unhappily a bit too unhopp(il)y. Hammy78 (973) - Dundas, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 23, 2013
Bomber purchased at the source. Pours a black with a thick tan head, leaves nice sticky lace clumps. Nose is sweet (very sweet), a touch fruit, maybe some citrus, malts. Tastes like chocolate and is definitely bitter.there is a bit of fruit and a touch of chalkiness. Nice, but not what I expected from an IPA. sudomorph (1167) - Barrie, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 20, 2013
UPDATED: JUL 27, 2013 Pours black with a two finger head that fades to a film. Aroma is of yeast and roasted malts.Taste is slightly sweet/bitter. Roasted with a bitter aftertaste. Slightly creamy texture. Low to medium body and carbonation. Needed more of a hop characteristic to be called an IPA. Not a bad beer but not my fav. lotsalaughs (175) - Alberta, CANADA - JUL 20, 2013
caramel, toast, roasty, hay, grass, resin, earthy, black, clear, frothy, tan foam, light sweetness, very bitter, lightly sour, light body, thin feel, average carbonation, bitter, long finish
Dark black pour with slow rising, persisting tan foam. Burst of hop aroma initially that hits hard. Green hop aromas of grass and spruce resin combine with the burnt toast sweetness of the malt. Taste is very bitter, but as one prgresses through the glass, a malty sweetness begins to take hold. Mouthfeel is thin with an average carbonation. Noticed some chalkyness as well. No noticeable alcohol heat despite higher ABV. Finish is mildly dry, with a pronounced dark, burnt coffee bitterness that lingers a long time. Reccommend serving at slightly warmer temp: 8-10C to allow for full aroma and flavour appreciation. Nice beer. manisthebeer (246) - squamish, British Columbia, CANADA - JUL 2, 2013
