Papsoe (25063) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - FEB 24, 2013
Bottle 65 cl. Courtesy of fiulijn. Pours an opaque black with a small off-white head. Roasty nose, a little cocoa. Medium body, heavy roast and a massive, rough and unsophisticated bitterness with close to no aromatic qualities. Very harsh. Not how I like my IPA’s! 230213

Bottle at Alex. Black coloured with a small off-white head. Sweet and roasted aroma of caramel, licorice and dark chocolate with notes of hops. Sweet and roasted flavour of caramel, hops and grapefruits. Hoppy finish.

fiulijn (20411) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - FEB 23, 2013
Black color, medium sized brownish head. Some aroma of roasted malt followed by nice fruitiness. Dark caramel and roasted malt flavor, then coffee; there is some sweetness appearing in the end; strong hopping.
Bold and zesty.

UPDATED: DEC 29, 2012 Bottle. Hophead mix pack from Santa. What a great idea. Dark brown. Light head. Moderate hop and malt. Very smooth body. Hoppy and chocolate notes. A hoppy chocolate porter. Yum.

650ml bottle
8.8% ABV
Part of the 2012 Tree Brewing feature at the LCBO. I tried this beer on June 12, 2012 after purchasing from the King/Spadina LCBO outlet in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The beer pours a coca-cola black colour with a half inch tan coloured head. The aroma is roasted malt, weak citrusy hops, and coffee. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavour is roasted coffee grains, decent citrusy hops, although no strong grapefruit presence. Still, an excellent beer

Reimer96 (1743) - Alberta, CANADA - NOV 29, 2012
UPDATED: FEB 8, 2013 Pours an opaque black with a nice brown head that dissipates quickly but leaves some foam across the top and some sticky lace. Aroma is a citrus/floral chocolate, roasted malts and coffee. Taste bitter dark cocoa that transitions into chocolate sweetness that has a very smooth and gradual warming from the 8.8abv and then it throws some citrus hop bitterness on the very end. Very complex and full bodied but not heavy.

andrewturba (1190) - Alberta, CANADA - NOV 28, 2012
Pours a very dark brown/black with decent tan head diminishing to a nice sticky ring that laces the glass with a light covering that seems to stick around. Aromas of chocolate, roasted malt, some coffee and light grassy bitterness. Flavour is a mixture of bitter citrus, chocolate, roasted malt and sweetness that blends together quite nicely and for being 8 percent abv its not a boozy beer at all.

rederic (3335) - montréal, Quebec, CANADA - NOV 20, 2012
650ml bottle, pitch black color, with a bubbly tan head, mild sweet chocolatey, semi-sweet chocolate baking bar, chocolate cake, chocolate pudding nose, with a chocolate, black, roasted, toasted malty accent, and with a light floral leafy, grassy, piney hop, black coffee note in the aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a nice sweet dark chocolate, black coffee, molasses, flowery leafy, grassy, piney hop character, with some burnt fruitcake, roasted, black, chocolate, toasted maltiness, brownie, minty, mocha flavours, and with a chocolate cake, chocolate cookie undertone, leading towards a warming chocolatey, chocolate cake, bitter chocolate, roastiness, lingering piney, cedary, coniferous hop bitterness finish.

Did not expect this after the abomination of hophead red. A beautiful purely opaque black, huge roasted malts and a sweet chocolate note. Not too hopped up but quite bitter on the finish. Not well balanced but a solid session brew.
