The name says it all...a full bodied India Pale Ale brewed for those that take their hops so seriously, they are referred to as Hop Heads. Brewed year round since 1999, HopHead IPA is our Signature beer and was the first serious IPA to be crafted for wide consumption by a Canadian brewery. Considered risky business for a small Canadian craft brewer at the time, it is now considered to have been ahead of its time by leading the charge into brewing full flavoured IPAs. Intense hop aroma with a complex malt/hop profile. Snappy bitterness with a very dry finish.

Malt: Pale, Light Munich, Vienna, Crystal
Hops: Perle, Centennial, Cascade, Columbus, Crystal

A - some grainy sweet malt, nw piney hops Ap - light golden with a nice off white head. Nice lacing, ok retention T - good dose of sweet malt up front. Heaping of citrusy piney hops. It's really balanced nicely. Loads of hops but they're not overpowering Mf - med full and really quite smooth. Med low carbonation. Very drinkable. O - a really nice IPA, I actually think its more drinkable than their pale. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

UPDATED: JAN 19, 2017 Dark orange, cloudy. Not much foam. Hoppy bitterness predominant, with some citrus and pine. OK, but there are better IPAs

355ml bottle, less then a week fresh. Pour light cooper with a dense but small off white head that vanish and stay on the outer rim. Malt aroma with notes of green resin. Taste of sweet malt, lots of residual sugar. Not enough hops. Long bitter finish with lots of sweetness.

Orange-gold body with good head. (Thats what she said! Ha!) Malty hop aroma, not too bad, not too expert either. Flavour is soft hops and weak hint of malts. Very subdued, preferred the double better. Give this to your friends at the barbeque and keep the strong one behind the bar for yourself.

Very light flavoured but quite bitter. Strong in that sense and quite tasty. But everything else is fairly bland.

An awesome snappy IPA from Tree brewing! Hazy orange pour with a thin head, no lacing. Notes of pine, bitter hops and some lemongrass spiciness almost.

355ml bottle from the LCBO in Peterborough, Ontario. Orange in colour with a long lasting large off-white head, excellent. The aroma is of citrus, some pine, light caramel, some toasted malt. The flavour is of light citrus and pine, earthy and toasty, some caramel sweetness. Bitter mouthfeel, medium body, moderate carbonation. Finishes long, good bitterness and hoppy. A nice balanced and highly drinkable IPA.

The HopHead is an extremely hoppy and flavourful beer, reminiscent of many American IPAs. The HopHead has a nice full body and mouthfeel, without the hoppiness being too overpowering. A fine ale all around. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

355 ml bottle. (5.6% ABV) Pours a hazy copper with a medium, off-white head that laces. Sweet, hoppy aroma of citrus, caramel malt and grass. Sweet, fruity flavour of grapefruit, caramel malt, mild resin and grass with a dry, bitter, hoppy finish. Medium body with an oily texture and soft carbonation.

Pours hazy pale to medium amber with a short, short-lived light beige head, spotty lacing. (4/5) Nose is pine, citrus, caramel malt, slightly flowery. (7/10) Taste is moderate sweet, moderate bitter. (7/10) Medium body, moderate to low sustained carbonation, lingering bitter finish. (4/5) Quite a decent A/IPA. Good balance between hoppiness and maltiness: the malt is quite pronounced, but definitely in a supporting role, and the flavour remains hop-forward. Quite nice. (15/20)
