COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Hell’s Half Mile is a German style Helles Lager that is pale gold with a creamy white head. Helles is German for bright. Hell’s Half Mile has an appealing grainy aroma with a slightly sweet malty flavor yet perfectly balanced with traditional noble hop characteristics. Don’t let the light color fool you! This full bodied beer is complex and refreshing!

Tap: cloudy, goldenrod color with a thin, white skin spread across the top. Aroma is full of grains, mild must, lemon-lime zest, & some finishing lager yeast. Decent, but not quite as much breaded maltiness as I’d like from the style. Taste is very fresh & crisp with lightly metallic graininess, huge bread chunks & toasty malt (there it is!) with a lemon-lime zest finish. Yeast becomes more apparent in the aftertaste, lasting as a mild mouth coating. Not the greatest helles lager ever, but better than the ratings indicate, methinks.

A sweet Bud with a bit more malt. Limited aroma, head, body and taste. Golden color.

On tap at the Michigan Fall Beer Fest. Don’t remember it too much. Should have taken more notes.

Bottle. Copper with a small head. Sweet hay and sour/stinky. Another of their beers with a bile aftertaste.

I wazs expecting a good helles bier. It waxs adequate but hardly stands up well compared to the helles bier of Munich. The only adjective I can use ito describe the taste is "thin."

Aroma: malt, kinda soapy. App: brownish gold, no head. Taste: beer. Palate: some bite at the end. Overall: basic but not terrible.

12oz bottle. Mildly hazy golden color. Thin slightly off-white head. Loose splotches and ropes of lace. Medium body. Crisp, lighter carbonation. Lightly sticky texture. Some grainy, bready malt flavors. Hint of pepper. Light bit of citrus. Moderate sweet taste, light bitter. Something tastes slightly off, not sure what.. But besides that, a pretty solid, easy drinking helles

It is not a bad beer. Pours light in color. Not a favorite style of beer, but I believe the brewery nailed the style. This would be a beer to drink at gatherings - something easy to drink all night. Also, they serve this at some local restaurants, and I would get this over the usual listings of domestics. Score might be too low do to not having enough of this style to compare to, and me preferring darker beers and IPAs.

Normally, this would get a better rating, but I’m not much of a lager fan. And I can’t give this as high of a rating as my favorite style of beers (dark ales - stouts). I normally drink Molson Canadian for an "at the bar go to" beer. This was much more full flavored than any typical bar lager. Not a great beer, but would definitely accept if offered to me.

Bottle. Hay, cherry/apple, and barley malt aroma. Golden yellow with large white head. Sweet honey/apple and barley malt flavor. Medium body. Okay - fruity.
