COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Hell’s Half Mile is a German style Helles Lager that is pale gold with a creamy white head. Helles is German for bright. Hell’s Half Mile has an appealing grainy aroma with a slightly sweet malty flavor yet perfectly balanced with traditional noble hop characteristics. Don’t let the light color fool you! This full bodied beer is complex and refreshing!

A nice session beer well balanced and pleasing. Much better served in a glass than straight out of the bottle, resist the urge to skip this step. Once this beer breathes and warms a little it mellows significantly and becomes tremendous.

superspak (6015) - Waterford, Michigan, USA - MAY 13, 2017
12 ounce bottle into lager glass, no bottle dating. Pours slightly hazy medium golden yellow color with a 1 finger dense white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of cracker, lightly toasted biscuit, light honey, herbal, floral, grass, light pepper, and yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance of pale malt and earthy hop notes; with solid strength. A bit fruity/yeasty in the aromas, but not overwhelming. Taste of cracker, lightly toasted biscuit, light honey, herbal, light pepper, and floral/grassy earthiness. Light-moderate herbal/grassy/spicy bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of cracker, lightly toasted biscuit, light honey, herbal, pepper, and floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice robustness and balance of pale malt and earthy hop flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and zero cloying/astringent flavors after the finish. Light-moderate dryness from lingering bitterness, increasing through the glass. Very clean on lager flavors, with minimal yeast notes present. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately bready/grainy, fairly crisp, and lightly sticky balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 6%. Overall this is a very nice Helles. All around nice robustness and balance of pale malt and earthy hop flavors; very smooth, crisp, clean, and refreshing to drink. A very enjoyable offering, and spot on style example.

On tap at the Mackinac Island Draught House. Pours a clear gold with a near white head that dissipates to the edges and laces slightly. Aroma is mild with notes of hay, bread and a bit of biscuit. Flavor is mild with hay and grain and a bit of grass in the finish.

12 oz. bottle from my Secret Santa, umich03jm. Thanks man! Pours a hazed golden with a thick, rocky white head. Aroma of mild citrus, grain, fresh bread. Flavor is crisp, mild citrus and grain notes. Lively carbonation, light bodied. Finish is fairly abrupt. It’s fine. Nothing particularly special.

Poured into an English pint glass. Mellow gold colour with a thin off-coloured white head that fades fast. First sip, lots of barley and almost a corn flavour. Kind of a grassy flavour to it as well. Medium sweetness, mild bitterness. Palate is very average with a thin texture.Too much carbonation. Overall, not a very good beer. I would not recommend it to anyone.

Bottle at home. Fizzy, high carbonation. No lacing. Bubbly head doesn't stay. Yellow and a little cloudy. Smells like a Stroh's. Faint taste of piney medicine. Not very good. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
