This strong golden ale showcases a variety of the ingredients and brewing methods that help differentiate Triangle beers. The Strong Golden is fermented at a higher temperature than our other beers adding an undercurrent of fruitiness (although there is no fruit in the beer). Very lightly filtered the Golden exhibits complex mouthfeel, strong malt flavors, a spicy hop presence and soothing alcohol warmth, followed by a clean, dry finish. It is excellent with food as well as served by itself. Malts: Two row pale, Cara Pils, White Wheat, Accidulated malt, and Belgian Candi Sugar Hops: Magnum, Styrian Golding, and Saaz

UPDATED: FEB 25, 2013 22oz from Parker & Otis, Durham. Very clear golden pour, with faint hints of amber in there. Lively carbonation, decent head. The aroma is crisp and hoppy, but also sweetly candied. A nice, moderate mouthfeel, ever so slightly slick owing to the sweet malts. But the finish is dry, hoppy, and a touch spicy. Nice one from the locals in Bull City.

Hazy tangerine pour and a thin off-white head. Bananas and spice on the nose. Lots of yeast and fruity esters. Slightly balanced with subtle hints of complexity

Pours a semi-cloudy orange, with a small white head. Smells of light Belgian candu sugar, strong malt, and citrus fruit. Standard, but simple. The flavor is pretty crisp andclean, nothing too complex, just easy drinking with decent maltand sweet sugar flavors. I got just a touch of some hop presence in the finish which gave it some balance, which was nice. Pretty drinkable, but probably wouldnt reach for it again.

On tap. Pours a clear, light copper with a small head. The aroma sports heavy esters with strong hints at apples and lighter spiced notes. The carbonation is medium on this and it shifts to the sticky side after a few sips. Lots of sweet fruit are here with suggestions of apples and bananas. The finish brings out a bit of wooden hoppiness. Decent.

Draft in Hillsborough...not my favorite Belgian-style ale...watery in flavor and mouthfeel was flat. Pale in color, not fizzy. Also a bit sweeter than I like.

jcwattsrugger (12517) - Florida and, New Jersey, USA - FEB 9, 2008
on tap-pours a white head and gold color. Aroma is yeast-some banana, some spice. Taste is clean-yeast-some banana, some spice, sweet medium malt. Dry, good effervescence.
