An interesting IPA named after a folklore character of Vilas County. But, that’s another story. The IPA was sampled on draught at the brewery taproom, north of Eagle River, Wisconsin and from 16-oz can, picked up at Trigs 70 Cellar locations. Pours a semi-clear golden light orange colored brew with a thick and creamy off-white head that sticks around and leaves behind some good lacing. Aroma of roasted caramel malt, some tropical and light grassy hops and a touch of spice. Taste is medium bodied flavors of both earthy and light citrus zest hops, roasted caramel malts and some earthy spice. Finish is semi-dry with a short citrus and grassy hops aftertaste. Drink as fresh as possible or more medicinal/earthy hop character becomes more pronounced. BeerInHeaven (454) - Brillion, Wisconsin, USA - SEP 13, 2016
I drank a growler of this up in Eagle River last weekend. I thought it was a good easy drinking IPA. citrus floral aroma. mild to medium hoppy bitter and a decent finish. Not bad. cbfobes (2883) - Quad Cities, Illinois, USA - APR 13, 2014
On tap at Vintage as a guest beer, pours a clear copper with a creamy white head, the aroma was actually pretty nice, good amount of citrus and fruit and it seemed like it would be an enjoyable experience, then I tasted it, the flavor was of weaker hops and came across pretty watery, didn’t live up to the aroma at all, will have to try some other stuff from these guys and see if they are better.
