Sampled from the brewery taproom, north of Eagle River, Wisconsin and from 16-oz can. Pours a semi-clear dark reddish brown colored brew with a thick and rocky beige head that some some excellent retention and lacing. Aroma of toasted chocolate malt, a hint of coffee, some earthy spice and a touch of grassy hops. Taste is medium bodied, flavors of toasted and some ashy Bakers chocolate with coffee, some grassy hops and a touch of spice. Finish has a mild burnt dark malt, almost reminds me of some black malt, with a short grassy hop and dark chocolate aftertaste. Porter/Cheeseburger pairing: I’d go with bison/beef meat with chopped onion with provolone and Wisconsin grown alfalfa sprouts. AWISLguy (3109) - Wisconsin, USA - JUN 26, 2017

On tap at Three Cellars. Deep mahogany with a creamy tan topper that fades into a small ring. Aroma is earthy and peaty with roasted malt, bakers chocolate and dough. Pint at Tribute. Poured deep brown witha short-lived khaki head. The aroma picked up buttery chocolates and burnt black malt.. very roasty overall. The flavor found ashy black malt roast and a bit of astringency.. baker’s chocolate on the back.. just ok. Light-medium bodied and very roasty on the palate.. decent feel and flow.. not great, but aiight.
