Black Marlin pours pitch black with a dense tan head. A wild winter beer powerful in aroma and taste Complexity comes from 7 different malts, 3 hops and a touch of our own South African trecle. Coffee, dark chocolate, aniseed, dark fruit and caramel in the aroma prepares you for the big taste and lingering bitter finish. This beer is best enjoyed at around 11°C and pairs well with rich warm deserts and dark chocolate.

Blacker than black pour with thick brown head. Strong alcohol aroma. Oak, raisin and whiskey on the tongue with a velvety mouthfeel.

Taster at the brewery. Pours a medium dark brown with a slight head. Not as opaque as I would have thought. Aromas of maple and alcohol. Taste is actual alcohol burn and sweetness. Difficult to drink.

pictoman (1254) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - AUG 25, 2014
Poured from 660mL bottle (#150/250 2013 edition). Black with minimal tan head. Aroma is fairly sweet with some licorice and light chocolate. Flavour brings out more coffee with chocolate, licorice and a little leather. Medium light body. Alcohol hidden. Starts sweet, roast comes in the middle, finish a bit weak. A bit light for a Russian imperial style.

Bottle @ deans crappy music tasting. Aroma is some roast, slight sourness. Flavour is liquorice, roast, red fruits, faint wood. Shame for the sourness, because I don’t think it’s supposed to be like this. Still good though.

jmgreenuk (10363) - Kuala Lumpur, MALAYSIA - MAR 1, 2013
Bottle at Deanso’s crappy music tasting. The aroma is sour but weak, The flavour is rich, zesty and alcoholic with bags of alcohol on the palate. A very drinkable beer in smaller quantities.

Benzai (16923) - Oirschot, THE NETHERLANDS, NETHERLANDS - MAR 1, 2013
Sampled from bottle @ Dean plays crappy music tasting. Opaque pitch black color, small light brown head. Don’t get a lot of aroma. Taste malts, roastyness and some sourness.
