COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This past August, we were fortunate to be a part of the inaugural Forever Summer Festival, hosted by The Veil at their brewery in Richmond, Virginia, where JC met owner/Head brewer, Matt Tarpey. Matt’s approach to brewing breaks from conventionalism by pushing boundaries and methodologies. IwanttoBU blends Trillium’s techniques and house character, with The Veil’s unique brewing style to create an incredibly flavorful and aromatic hop forward beer with no kettle hop additions.

IwanttoBU is a 0 IBU beer with no hop additions in the kettle. A large whirlpool addition of El Dorado, Simcoe, Citra and Citra Lupulin Powder, plus a massive dry hop (4 lbs per barrel) of Citra and Simcoe. The nose is filled with notes of pine needles, citrus zest and plum. Flavors of lemongrass and citrus emerge on the palate, complimented by a dank, piney character. The beer finishes with a mild bitterness and malty backbone.

ABV: 8.0%

MALT: British Pale Malt, White Wheat, Dextrin, C-15, Dextrose

HOPS: Citra, Citra Lupulin Powder, Simcoe, El Dorado

Very cloudy hazy golden amber color. Dank with tons of white grapefruit and mangoes, sweet malty nose. Very soft mouththat is super dank, like diving into a tropical fruit punch. Not malty at all and amazingly balanced for no IBUs. Just a work of art. Some pine needles pop up. Wow.

16 oz can received in a trade with Jon. Thanks man! The pour is a dirty juicy orange gold color with a thinner white head and no lace as it falls. The aroma is pretty decent. There is a nice pine resin to it and a little dusty hop. There is a hint if malt on the back end that I’m not crazy about, but it’s only slight. The flavor is a little different. Lots more malt. The citrus and fruitiness is pretty good, but the bitter maltiness isn’t my favorite thing. The mouth feel is a little thicker and a bit creamy. There is a nice carbonation and a lingeringly bitter citrus and resin finish. This is nicely done, but there is just a little too much maltiness happening for my liking. Damn good beer.

16 oz. can. Pours orange and murky. Smells of citrus, garlic, and onion hops. Sweet pale malt. Tastes very citrusy. Lots of garlic, but no bite. El Dorado is kinda woody and resiny in the middle. Sweet pale malt. Medium body. Very tasty, but I kinda miss the bitterness.

Can with a date of 11/8/16. The flavor is just as bright and juicy. Mango, papaya with a candied orange hint. Or it could be the honey.

Good level of grain and pale malts with the fruit bursting throughout the sip. Nice wheat backbone. Damn, no bitterness at all which is not a surprise since there was no hop additions in the kettle. All hop hints much come from the dry hopping. I have used the term "juice" many times before this brew but wow. This quite interesting how they pulled this off. Got to thank Matt B for hooking me up with this. I am happy I didn’t miss it.
