Pours dark, clear brown with quickly settling head. Minimal lacing. Aroma is heavily roasted coffee, dark malt and chocolate. Flavor is roasted, coffee up front with toasted malt finish. Mildly roasted, chocolate aftertaste. Soft carbonation and medium-light body. Aroma is good, flavor and texture are a bit lacking.
On tap at mtn sun. Pours a very dark red brown with a finger of fine off-white head. Settles quickly with sparse lacing. Aroma is roasted coffee, mocha, roasted malt, hint of fark chocolate. Flavor is mild hop bitter up front and slightly roasted up front building to a nice roasted coffee flavor. Interesting combination of hop and coffee bitterness. This beer has a good coffee flavor, full and rich. Finishes mild hoppy bitter with a hint of coffee. Moderate carbonation, medium-light body, smooth texture (especially for stout), and a dry finish. A really interesting, smooth and dry coffee stout, really enjoyed this one. Score: 3.6
On tap as Awaken Chicory Coffee Stout at the brewpub. Pours black with a creamy nitrogen body. Now this has some awesome coffee aroma and flavor going on. Very genuine coffee make this nutty and roasty. The mouthfeel is very creamy and gives this a well rounded cafe au lait feel. A little milk chocolate is noted and the finish is ashy and nutty. Tap. Pours deep, dark brown with thick, creamy beige head; good retention and lacing. Aroma is roasted malt, fresh coffee, chocolate, light figs, some ash, and faint earthy hops. Flavor is roast malt forward with supporting earthy hops, dark chocolate, ash; dry finish. Medium body and low carbonation.

On tap at the brewpub poured a very dark brown w/ a two finger frothy tan head and nice retention, slowly fading into a lasting ring. Medium roasty coffee aroma, smokey w/ hints of oatmeal, chocolate, toffee and caramel. A bit of dark fruit as well with faint spice. Full bodied with a nice roasted coffee flavor. Pretty roasty up front with a strong chicory coffee presence that lingers into a dry finish. Hints of chocolate, oatmeal, toffee and hazelnut with a dry finish. Draft at the brewery. Combined with the BACON APPETIZER and maple syrup, it’s like breakfast during happy hour. Straight coffee stout with a thinner body by the way.
