Pretty generic IPA, nice palate. A bit less sweet but nice roasted undertone. Pretty solid onceblind (10612) - Denver, Colorado, USA - FEB 11, 2012
Clear black with a thin light khaki head. Smells of wood, dark chocolate, mild tones of old coffee, and dusty molasses. Body feels kinda light, as is the flavor...well, medium light. Flavor of roasted dark malts, some burnt toffee, some light tones of old coffee grounds, some off bitter chocolate, and some dusty woody tones. Again, all on a light body, so none of it is terribly offensive. When I burp, the coffee tone is more pronounced. So there’s that. ogiergrove (120) - Lakewood, Colorado, USA - OCT 15, 2011
Nice roasty coffee nose; a bit sharper than expected on nitro (expected a bit more velvet). Pours a rich black dnstone (3554) - Kansas City, Missouri, USA - OCT 10, 2011
Deep chocolate brown-black in color. Coffee roastiness up front then becomes sweet and malty in the finish.
Notes: Tasted both regular and nitro versions DrinkEmUpJones (1069) - Georgia, USA - SEP 30, 2011
Pours dark brown almost black with sticky lacing. Heavy coffee aroma with a little mocha. Full-bodied, rich palate is creamy but not too heavy. More coffee & cream on the palate, good finish.

UPDATED: SEP 10, 2011 In taster at brewery. Looks black as first but is just dark red, clear, and can see distinct light through it. Light brown head. Smells of straight up coffee and chocolate. More chocolate than coffee. Tastes of the same but not as strong as i was expecting. Lovely stout though. 7 of 10. LilBeerDoctor (4198) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - JUL 30, 2011
On tap at the brewpub. Pours black with a tan head. Aroma of sweet malt, roast, chickory, and a hint of coffee. Flavor of roast, smooth bitter chocolate, chickory, and a hint of smoke. Very good stout!

Dark brown pour. Aroma is all coffee and chocolate. Creamy body leads to a rich coffee and chocolate flavor with light roast. Awesome! corby112 (2813) - philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 23, 2011
Draft at the brewpub.
Pours a very dark brown, almost balck color that’s opaque with chestnut edges and a two finger frothy off white headthat has decent retention, slowly fading into a lasting ring. Spotty lacing left behind.
Nice roasty aroma with a good amount of coffee without being burnt, acrid or over the top. Smokey with hints of oatmeal, chocolate, toffee and caramel. A bit of dark fruit as well with faint spice and hops.
Full bodied with a nice roasted coffee flavor. Pretty roasty up front with a strong chicory coffee presence that lingers into a dry finish. Slightly burnt/acrid without being over the top. Subtle creaminess adds fullness. Hints of chocolate, oatmeal, toffee and hazelnut with a dry finish. tennessejed420 (940) - Denver, Colorado, USA - MAY 15, 2011
tap at trinity, nitro. Pours black with nice sustaining, creamy creme / white colored head. Aroma is chocolate syrup, coffee roast. Medium bodied, smooth and creamy, very nice body. Softly bitter coffee flavor with plenty of sweet chocolate and roast, this stout is one I could come back to for sure.
