On tap at Trinity poured a clear dark brown with a lingering ring of tan foam. Aromas of coffee, dark chocolate, roasted malt and a hint of smoke. Palate was light to medium bodied and smooth. Draught at Trinity Brewing. Pours black with an average, frothy, light brown head, mostly lasting with excellent lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (coffee, chocolate, roasted), light hops (herbs), average yeast (horse blanket, leather) with notes of tar. Full bodied, creamy texture, average carbonation, and a chalky finish. UPDATED: JAN 18, 2012 On tap @ Trinity. Very dark brown appearance with a creamy brown head. Dark chocolate malty nose with espresso and hazelnuts. Big espresso flavor over a dark chocolate maltiness. Coffee and roasted malts on the finish with some hoppy bitterness. Delicious!!

Clear black with a thin light khaki head. Smells of wood, dark chocolate, mild tones of old coffee, and dusty molasses. Body feels kinda light, as is the flavor...well, medium light. Flavor of roasted dark malts, some burnt toffee, some light tones of old coffee grounds, some off bitter chocolate, and some dusty woody tones. Pour on tap at the brewery, pour is murky brown pour with tan head, aroma brought notes of anise, spice, coffee, some hints of dark fruit, caramel, earth. On tap at the brewpub. Dark brown appearance with a tan head and light lacing. Aroma of coffee, chicory, dark malts, roast and light chocolate. Similar flavor, with a creamy feel and a dry finish. Medium body, a little thin. Pretty tasty.
