UPDATED: JAN 18, 2012 On tap @ Trinity. Very dark brown appearance with a creamy brown head. Dark chocolate malty nose with espresso and hazelnuts. Dark brown pour. Aroma is all coffee and chocolate. Creamy body leads to a rich coffee and chocolate flavor with light roast. Awesome!

Had this brew at the All Colorado Beer Festival on 11/08/08. Aroma is a dry smoky scent with nice roasted notes. Color is a solid black with a thin but tight head. Taste comes on a smooth creamy body that goes down with a crisp feel, then a flavor that is like the aroma, it has dark roasted coffee like flavors and a dry after taste. Pours a very dark brown, almost balck color that’s opaque with chestnut edges and a two finger frothy off white headthat has decent retention, slowly fading into a lasting ring. Spotty lacing left behind.
Nice roasty aroma with a good amount of coffee without being burnt, acrid or over the top. Smokey with hints of oatmeal, chocolate, toffee and caramel. A bit of dark fruit as well with faint spice and hops.
Full bodied with a nice roasted coffee flavor. Pretty roasty up front with a strong chicory coffee presence that lingers into a dry finish. Slightly burnt/acrid without being over the top. On tap at the brewpub. Pours black with a tan head. Aroma of sweet malt, roast, chickory, and a hint of coffee. Flavor of roast, smooth bitter chocolate, chickory, and a hint of smoke. Very good stout!

On tap as Awaken Chicory Coffee Stout at the brewpub. Pours black with a creamy nitrogen body. Now this has some awesome coffee aroma and flavor going on. Very genuine coffee make this nutty and roasty. The mouthfeel is very creamy and gives this a well rounded cafe au lait feel. A little milk chocolate is noted and the finish is ashy and nutty. Really enjoyable.
