DIPA Primitif. A Double ’Red Swingline’ brewed with three heavily fruity hops, coriander, and tangerine zest the profile is definitely American in focus. Aged in French Oak Chardonnay barrels with souring Lactobacillus, funky Brettanomyces yeast, and dry-hopped in each individual barrel.

0.375l waxed bottle @ Top Hops. This one pours a mild cloudy orange colored body with a nice big lasting and lacing white head. Love the aroma. It’s quite tartish in a way. Sour apricot, rhubarb, Brett and zesty small both sweet and sour kumquats. Soft woody wine and mild gooseberries. Wow, this is an absolutely mindblowing lovely aroma. Tastes just as good as it smells. It’s superbly bretty, a little sourness without ever being really sour. Lemonic zesty and kinda wood tart. It’s above average on the carbonation and almost growing creamy in the mouth. Sorrel and dandelions tartness. To my surprise I get lots of cured salty ham in the finish and aftertaste. Simply a wonderful tasting wild one! 18.06.2015

Bottle: The aroma consists of moderate tangerine, tart citrus, peach, florals, oak, and a bit of cheesy funk. It’s a hazy dull orange with a small white head that fades to a thin film outlined by a slightly thicker ring. The flavor starts with moderate tart citrus and light tangerine. The finish has light-moderate lemon, lemon peel, florals, sour grapes, and oak. It’s a medium bodied with moderate-lively carbonation.

Bottle. Aroma is huge peach, moderate brett/barnyard and oak, light flowers, grapes, and coriander. Tastes light to moderately sour. Big peach and oak, lots of citrus and white grape, leather, flowers, citrus peel, light cheesy funk, and an acidic finish. Great stuff. Nice champagne like carb. So good but this really needs to be listed as a sour and not an IIPA.

Hazy yellow pour with a white head. The aroma has some big tropical fruit notes with some tangerine, oak and tartness. The flavor is a mix of cheesy funk with tangerine, oranges and other tropical fruit. I also get a bit of yeast and funk from the brett, plus some oak and white wine grapes. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

Cloudy dark golden color with a small, white head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of some floral hops, citrus, pine, vanilla, wine, lactobacillus. Taste of citrus, vanilla, white wine, grassy hops, and a sour finish. Not a IIPA at all, but decent.

375 ml bottle from Tipsy’s into a snifter. Cloudy orange appearance with a mostly dissipating white head. Aroma of mild white wine, funky yeast, citrus zest, herbal hops, tropical fruits and light alcohol. The flavor is mildly to moderately sour, lightly vinous, moderately bitter and pretty funky. Medium plus body with average carbonation and a lingering, light dry finish, a touch boozy. I prefer the Regular, Pliser and maybe the Easy version over this one. Still, it’s quite a nice hoppy sour overall. I’m glad to have finally tried all 6 variations of their Red Swingline for their 6th anniversary last year.

Cloudy pale straw blonde pour with a thick white head. Nose shows lychee, fruit skins, wood, spicy notes, and an earthy tone. Fruit skins, tart, and cedary notes in the flavor. Light bodied and dry with a tannic and acidic finish.

Pour on tap at Avery Sourfest 2014, hazy dark orange-red pour with white head, aroma brought notes of big mango, tropical fruit, tart lemon into some candied orange, some grapefruit into a bit of bread, biscuit, caramel. Taste was a mix of tropical fruit with pineapple, mango, orange into a bit of grapefruit, some bread, touch of spice, finishing bitter.
