COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle conditioned.
First brewed 1996; claimed to be based on a recipe from 1679 which used wheat, oat and barley.
Tripel Karmeliet is a very refined and complex golden-to-bronze brew with a fantastic creamy head. These characteristics derive not only from the grains used but also from restrained hopping with Styrians and the fruity nature (banana and vanilla) of the house yeast. Aroma has hints of vanilla mixed with citrus aromas. Tripel Karmeliet has not only the lightness and freshness of wheat, but also the creaminess of oats together with a spicy lemony almost quinine dryness.

UPDATED: MAR 3, 2018 Yellow goldish colour when poured. Had a biggish head but disappeared quickly and unsure why? Aroma of yeast, hint of spice. Quite carbonated. Nice beer.

Hazy gold pour, big white head. Extreme estery aroma, mild barnyard, horse blanket notes. Lots of lemon and sweetness. Heavy body, lingering flavour, flavour follows the typical belgian yeasts notes, some bread, banana as it warms up. Carbonation is a bit high and bites- understandable byproduct of the bottle conditioning.

On tap at NoMad Belgian Beer Cafe in New York City. Pours clear straw-yellow with a spritz of white head and lacing. Aroma: honey, sweetened and dried lemon peels. Flavor: malt forward (honey, dried bananas) with cloves and some barnyard. Mouthfeel: full-bodied, slick.

Bottle at home. Pours an almost yellow colour with a foamy white head. Tastes fruity and spicy with some bitter notes. The aftertaste is a little too sour in my opinion.

Goudblond bier met grote wand klevende witte schuimkraag. Geur: mout, granen, wat citrus en wat zoet fruitig, banaan? Smaak: licht zoet, wat gistkarakter, koriander en wat zoet fruitig. Goede koolzuurprikkel. Romig en volmondig. Afdronk: licht zoet, licht alcoholisch. Is het de combinatie koriander en banaan? Dit is mijn smaak niet.

[email protected] DØE Køge. Appearance: pours clear golden with good white creamy-soapy head and lacing. aroma/taste: bread, wheat, biscuit, light brown sugar, light alcohol, orange, light citrus, light spices, light banana and floral notes. palette: strong malty and yeasty aroma, average to light sparkling carbonation, medium to full body, medium to notable sweetness, balanced by a medium bitterness, average duration and a watery texture. Overall: Tasteful and well balanced, great stuff

pivnizub (11061) - Bochum, GERMANY - FEB 11, 2018
Bouteille: Pale golden to golden, hazy, visible carbonation, big - beaten-egg-white-like - head; moderate to solid yeasty-fruity nose with a grainy-dusty background; robust bitter-sweet flavour, surely medium bodied, not overly soft; lingering bitter-sweet fruity-yeasty finish. Good, but not that exciting brew...
