Bottle conditioned.
First brewed 1996; claimed to be based on a recipe from 1679 which used wheat, oat and barley.
Tripel Karmeliet is a very refined and complex golden-to-bronze brew with a fantastic creamy head. These characteristics derive not only from the grains used but also from restrained hopping with Styrians and the fruity nature (banana and vanilla) of the house yeast. Aroma has hints of vanilla mixed with citrus aromas. Tripel Karmeliet has not only the lightness and freshness of wheat, but also the creaminess of oats together with a spicy lemony almost quinine dryness.

I hate to admit, but it is actually indeed a great tripel. Very well in balance, not too sweet, full bodied, nice taste, good looking. A standard for Belgian style tripel.

Awesome. Cerveja encorpada, notas florais com aromas intensos de caramelo. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

UPDATED: DEC 19, 2017 sin duda de las mejores cervezas belgas que he probado, el sabor es muy equilibrado con un toque cítrico al final.

Drank on 15/12/2017, from I.B.S. Appearance: 2.5 – This poured a massive head with good lacing.Yellow golden. Smell/Aroma: 3 – Banana, fruity yeast, sweet, slightly bready/malty. citrus, spice. A lot of undefinable lovely yeast character. Taste: 4 – Slight bready malt, sweet malt, banana, clove, fruity, oaky, rich. Good balanced bitterness. The high alcohol is there but balanced, a very slight medicinal character. Again theres a lot of lovely original interesting yeast here as well that just hard to pin. Subsides to a nice bitter finish that doesnt stay too long, ready for the next sip. Mouthfeel/Palate: 3 – Big, viscous, full, rich, but not overbearing, not cloying nor does it hang around too long. Overall: 4 – Always a fantastic beer. Well made, well balanced, big but not overbearing, not over the top. Maybe even a 4.5. This is a classic.

Pours opaque pale straw with a thin white head that doesn’t last long. Nose is banana. Taste is very carbonated up front with some banana and clove notes and mild earthiness to finish. Very light and not overly sweet. Great on a hot day.

From bottle in Belgian ale glass. Pours golden, slightly hazy with big billowing head. Banana is obvious in nose and taste, and (as others commented) cloves and white pepper along with high CO2 make for spicy, zesty finish

Very fizzy, more like a Champaign than a beer. High alcohol percentage but not bitter ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
