22 ounce waxed bottle. Pours like a barley wine but the initial booze in nose fades and there is some faded spice, caramel, candy, coconut, vanilla going on. Quite a bit here. JaBier (8253) - Capital City, Ohio, USA - JUN 12, 2016
Sample at Listermann’s 25th Anniversary Party on 6/11/16. Pours opaque amber brown, like liquid caramel, with a huge tan head. Aroma of malt, cinnamon and bourbon. Malty flavor with plenty of cinnamon giving way to caramel before a warm bourbon finish. Even on a 94 degree day, I could appreciate what a winter gem this beer is. Draft pour. The beer is a somewhat hazed brown with a white head. The aroma has a lot of spice and heavy cinnamon. The taste is fairly sweet and a little boozy in the best of ways. Real fucke. Good. DialSquare (5130) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - FEB 8, 2015

This 2013 vintage held up well for the year or so that it sat in the cellar. A good balance of winter spices combine with the malts to create something almost sessionable. If more bottles make their way into distribution (or you find it at the source) be sure to give this winter warmer a fair chance.
Aroma / Appearance - A carbonated base looks like bubbly merlot with a crisp eggshell head for company. Red licorice, cinnamon, nutmeg, and more open up as the beer warms. The resulting combination smells like a mulled wine which has been further aged in an oak barrel.
Flavor / Palate - A chewy mouthfeel sticks to the mouth. Heavy cream, oak, and vanilla yield to nutmeg and cinnamon. A dry finish slowly fades like a morning fog made of caramel and red licorice. If you get a chance to pick up a bottle this reflects the Ohio brewing scene fairly well
This is great. It’s got all the great sweet notes that you expect from listermann, but the barrel aging gives it a backbone that you’d expect from a Triple Digit beer. Depending on which year you’re drinking you can get some great rye notes, or a nice mellow corn sweetness. Wonderful change of pace for winter beers.
