Bottle via trade. Thanks, bro! Waxed bottle, Rum barrel aged. Pours a reddish color with almost no head. Looks quite thin. Aromas of lightly smoked malt, oak, sweet dark fruit. Taste is quite sweet and sticky, yet with a thin mouthfeel and very low carbonation that makes it utterly chuggable. Flavors of rum and dark fruit. Plenty of residual sugars. Booze is not hidden. Gets you buzzed QUICK. Pretty average.

Pecan and rum aroma. Hazy ruby brown, thin head. Maraschino cherry flavor with a kiss of rum and pecan on the back end. Delayed belly warming effect. Nicely done.

Bottle @ The WWGT2D? Tasting. Thanks to Travlr, who better not rate this if he knows what’s good for him. Deep amber, slightly soupy. Hardly any head whatsoever. The nose is full of caramel, hot cross buns. Jelly donuts. Leather. The taste is slightly tart and funky. Blackberry and cherry compote. Toffee cake. Full body, oily. Soft carbonation. Not without its charms. Nice fruit accents.

750 mL bottle shared by Travlr via alexsdad06 at the WWGT2D? Charlottesville tasting, 4/5/14. Pours a dark amber color with not much of a head. Aroma of toffee, wood, rum, a bit of umami. The taste is rum, toffee, stone fruit. Medium bodied, low carbonation, boozy.

Draft at the second anniversary party (also first anny and from bottle). Pours a deep coppery brown color with a medium sized beige head that persists as a creamy film. The aroma is sweet caramel malts, dark fruits, a hint of butterscotch not in a bad way, some nice rum character and wood from the barrel with some boozy notes wafting in and out. The flavor is sweet caramel malts, darker fruits, dates, figs, some earthy notes, very slight butterscotch notes that blend with the caramel and rum flavors, wood and some alcohol throughout. Medium plus body and fairly smooth.

Pours a dark brown color with almost no carbonation whatsoever. Tastes like rich caramel, hazelnut, rum and light vanilla. I really like this and it certainly brings to mind Backwoods Bastard. With more carbonation it would seriously rival BB.

reggiedunlop (3724) - The dub c, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 29, 2013
Pours a murky brown with no head. Aroma has candied fruits...notes of cocnut, vanilla, and rum. Flavor follows suit and adds a layer of brown sugar and a touch of earthy hoppiness. Mouthfeel is medium and the finish is warming with rum and brown sugar.
