Chelmsford Winter Beer Festival in KEGS! Opaque dark brown beer, decent bubbly pale tan head. Palate is light and dry. Dry floral notes. Dry cinnamon. Sweet dried fruits, orange oils. Finishes dry with a modicum of malt. Typically over spiced Christmas beer and too dry as well but didn’t hate it.
Cask. Pours dark brown in color with a small tan head. Coffee and milk chocolate in aroma. Feels very smooth. Cocoa powder, more milk chocolate notes and perhaps some hint of wood in taste. Nice roasted coffee beans and cocoa in aftertaste. Delicious. Smooth over all and seems very well balanced. Cocoa powder in finish.

Pours pitch black with a small bubbly head. Aroma of roasty malts, mint notes, hints of licorice and anise. Taste is smooth, mildly roasty with a lot of salty licorice, tar, hints of wood, mint and anise. Smooth and mildly spicy finish with notes of roastiness, licorice and mint. A bit unbalanced and strange, couldn’t really find the bourbon here.
Cask gravity at CAMRA Chelmsford Winter Beer Festival. Black with a good head. Thick. Chocolate, coffee, fruit and spiced (cinnamon) aroma. Very nice. mjs (7169) - Helsinki, FINLAND - FEB 20, 2013
(Cask at Kuikka, 20130220) The beer poured black. Its head was small, lightly brown, bubbly and long lasting. Aroma had vanilla, roasted malts and chocolate. Palate was medium bodied with low carbonation. Flavours were vanilla, clove, allspice, sweetness, roasted malts, hops and bitterness. Aftertaste had cough mixture, burnt malts and bitterness. Aroma was pleasant but the taste was initially weird and eventually quite bad. Erasmus_ro (2914) - Alabama, USA - FEB 14, 2013
Cask @ Kitty’s Public House, Helsinki 14/02/2013. Pours black with a surprisingly large (for a real ale) beige head. Aroma is coffee, chocolate, roast. Some nettles and mint as well. Flavor starts up as tar-flavored candy, chocolate and roast. Later sips reveal eucalyptus, but especially mint. Strong mint flavor. Dry. Palate is medium, no carbonation.
