Draft. Poured black color with an average creamy brown head that was mostly lasting and produced excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy sweet roast coffee and toffee aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium toasted sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. Good beer. Dogbrick (13547) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - FEB 26, 2012
Sample at The Heorot. Pours black with a medium thin tan head that diminishes steadily. Short stringy lacing. Aroma of roasted malt and coffee. Medium body with a roasty character and notes of coffee, malt and a bit of hops. The finish is malty up front with a lingering coffee aftertaste. Above average overall. Bottle from Champane’s, less than six months old. A serviceable stout. Initially a little musty aroma. Black with virtually no head remaining. A little chalk, roast, chocolate malt. Decent drinkability. Undercarbonated and a bit above average mouthfeel.

Bottle. Mocha malt aroma. Opaque brown-black with minimal head. Lightly sweet dark chocolate, ash, and bitter herbal flavor. Medium body. Nice. DrSilverworm (9671) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - APR 7, 2013
12oz bottle, shared. Thanks to radarsock. Very dark brown, but still clear color, around the edges. Good, thin lighter brown head, little lace. Impressive nose - big roasty malt and dark fruit. Nice big flavor, good dark chocolate and roast malts. Light coffee in the finish. Flavor like a 7% stout. Medium body. Kind of creamy, good crisp carbonation. Nice big bitterness. Very solid stout.

Bottle to snifter (thanks DrSilverworm). Looks solid; a fairly opaque black with thin beige lacing. Smells solid too; roasty and malty. Tastes like it smells with a nice, dry mouthfeel. Solid beer. drfabulous (8485) - Lexington, Kentucky, USA - MAR 27, 2014
12 ounce bottle. Black pour. Some roast and bitter. Light coffee. Thing body overall. Ok stout. Strykzone (7582) - Wood River, Illinois, USA - AUG 3, 2013
12 ounce bottle bought in Indianapolis. An almost black pour that has a tan head. An aroma that is full of roasted notes and espresso. The flavor brings coffee and sourness. Citrus hops, black licorice, and oats. Bitterness comes late. This is below average because of the sourness. Patrickctenchi (6692) - Cox’s Knob, columbus, Indiana, USA - DEC 7, 2012
Pours black/purple with a mikshake dark tan head.
Scent is chocolate powder, roast and a hint of smoke.
Taste is creamy, chocolate malt.....
Smooth with a nice coffee bitter...oily....
Really nice. BBB63 (6557) - La Porte, Indiana, USA - MAR 13, 2013
Tap and bottle ratings: Deep brown hue with a fading tan head, spotty lace. The aroma has notes of roasted coffee, chocolate, walnuts, oats, prune and tobacco. The bottle did not display the amount of Diacetyl I found from the tap but the bottle displays some DMS so the trade off is miniscule. The taste is sweet and mostly malty with a touch of fruity notes and very lightly hopped. The roasty coffee-like character is the thing keeping this from becoming cloy... and that it is a session stout with little heaviness. Oh, there appears to be the beginning of lactic sourness that hints of developing infection issue. The mouth feel is chalky and somewhat dry, short. Meh, it is what it is, I found the tap offering disappointing and the bottle not much better.
