Good stout! It could use more depth of flavor(it would probably barrel-age great like the porter). Very drinkable; and yet another solid beer from my favorite brewer in Indianapolis.

Bottle pour. Very rich dark brown/black with a thick tan head that shrinks to cover the top and leaves nice lacing. Aroma is roasted dark malts and coffee up front. Bits of spice is there too. Flavor is dark malts and a little bit of coffee. There are some creamy flavors and a weird underlying fruitiness to it. Not my favorite but not bad. bvbunited (72) - Ohio, USA - JAN 20, 2016

8 July 2015, bottle. black. nose is burnt toast and the faintest of olive (?). perhaps that is a earthy aroma instead. med/thin body and moderately fizzy. the malt is very toasted/burnt which really seems to give it olive off flavors. i don’t think this is an infection, i just think the result of the dark toasted malt and frequent acidic component of stouts somehow created the illusion of olives. trying to look past that i also taste leather and licorice. still, can’t get past the light olive taste.

On tap, black with thin tan head. Smoke to the nose which continues to the pallet along with some chocolate and coffee. Good beer worth having again.

Bottle. Near black with a very thin tan head. Light aroma of coffee and sour berry. Bitter roasted flavor with an earthy and slightly sour finish. I suspect the beginning stages of infection. Below average carbonation with creamy texture. Dull and underwhelming. Not a beer I would choose again.
