Bottle - Pours mahogany wit a foamy light tan head. Nose is toasted dark bread malt, a bit of nuttiness, some ash, and coffee grounds.Taste is roughly the same--toasted malt, ash, coffee grounds, some nuttiness, a bit of milkiness and a bitter, dry finish. Thin-bodied with lots of carbonation. Not bad, but not something I’d revisit. geeklimit (292) - USA - AUG 12, 2014
Sweet caramel aroma on a light scotch pour. Light head. Strong malt flavor with strong toffee overtones. Might be bitter aftertaste and a sticky mouth feel Chudwick (3217) - Taylor Mill, Kentucky, USA - JUN 11, 2014
12oz bottle into La Petite Tulipe - a metallic brown ale. I get the nuttiness and all that but fairly mild flavor. latent coffee notes. For something that has "barrel" in the title, I expect more complex flavor. jsquire (4492) - St. Marys, Ohio, USA - MAR 27, 2014
Reddish hued brown beer with a short lived beige head. Nose of mildly roasted grains and something vaguely sour. Not a lot going on in here. Some wet grains and the same sour fruitiness that just doesn’t seem right. Okay I guess. patrick767 (4063) - fort wayne, Indiana, USA - MAR 23, 2014
bottle - Pours amber-brown with a light tan rapidly fading head. It has a sour caramel malt smell. The flavor has some sweet malt and a whole lot of off sour taste. Yes, it’s yet another infected bottle of Triton beer. It’s probably fine on tap. They make rather good beer, but obviously have major bottling problems.

A rather odd brown, with a surprising and not terribly pleasant vinous quality that tends to overpower the normal nutty flavors of a brown. OK, but not for the price. Drjohnrock (805) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - NOV 1, 2013
Draft sample at 2013 Cincinnati Brew Ha Ha festival. Dark brown/coffee hue, firm sweet malty nose, somewhat light body but pleasant malty taste with some coffee elements, some complexity. Quite good for style. Tasted on August 24, 2013. b3shine (8875) - Indiana, USA - OCT 31, 2013
Bottle to taster (shared with jmborggren). Looks solid; a transparent brown with very light beige head that steadily dissipates into lacing. Smells semi-sweet and malty, but underwhelming. A little dough too. Tastes like it smells with a bitter, unpleasant mouthfeel. Nope. DrSilverworm (9671) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - SEP 17, 2013
5oz taster on tap at Cincinnati Beer Fest. Mostly hazy, darker amber, light brown color. Almost brown. Bigger khaki head. Smooth, crisp lighter carbonation. More dry finish. Medium body. Toasty aroma, some light hop pineyness. Definitely hoppy for a brown, less malty than typical. Hint of metallic. Moderate bitterness, minimal sweet. Odd for a brown. Quite hoppy. But solid overall. A refreshing take on a brown ale. hotstuff (5160) - Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA - SEP 1, 2013
Rated on 01-28-2012 at Brewers of Indiana Guild Winterfest-Indianapolis, IN. When poured, this beer entails a small tan head with good retention, hazy body with a brown-orange hue, and has spotty amounts of lacing. The Aroma is malty, hint of hops and earthy. The Taste is malty, pine hops upfront and semi-crisp. The Palate is tingly and this beer is medium bodied. Overall, this beer is quaffable, has a lingering hoppy aftertaste, worth trying and a beer I would drink again.
