Our flagship beer, and a true example of the style, the Railsplitter India Pale Ale (IPA) is a fresh golden brew with noticeable citrus and floral aromas balanced on a nice malty backbone with a dry finish.

The beer itself is mediocre, but I really dig the label art. I think itís the color scheme. Dark golden caramel in color with a slightly citrusy caramel nose, it has a nice barley aroma thatís sweet, but still a little grainy. Thereís some bitter resin on the front of the palate, and a very bitter finish for such light body. Still, some chewy maltiness helps balance things out just a little.

12os bottle into Le Bubba Gump - nose is citrus and malty. Sip is a butter bomb. Mildly bitter. Downhill from first sip. Still canít get over that Japanese ref. I am now rooting for Croatia behind a few other teams.

Aroma of citrus, taste is citrus, caramel sweetness, some alcohol, hops. Overall a decent IPA. Dry finish was not present.

Draft to taster. Looks good; a transparent orange with eggshell head. Smells solid; juicy hops with a well-balanced pale malt backbone. Tastes like it smells with a solid mouthfeel. Enjoyable.

12 oz. single from Big Red Liquors in Carmel, Indiana. Nice looking murky orange/lemon color with a wispy white head. Some green, catty hop aroma but a surprisingly strong fresh bread smell too. Those hops hit fast and hard with a dry, grassiness followed by a juicy citrus and pith. Then that bready flavor comes through along with a good balancing caramel/honey sweetness thatís just enough to not take away from the delicious hops. Finishes nice and light with a lasting bitter bite. Next time Iím back visiting Indy, Iím gonna look these guys up! This is one damned good IPA!

Location: 12 oz bottle from Andy, 1/19/14

Aroma: The nose is citrus and pine hops, some caramel as well, leans sweet
Appearance: It pours a bright copper-red color with a frothy beige head and plenty of lace
Flavor: It is mid-sweet and mid-bitter up-front, the sweetness fades into a more bitter finish
Palate: This one is medium bodied, leaning light, has a nice mouthfeel, and a long, dry finish
Overall Impression: Thanks Andy! I like this one. It starts as a balanced IPA in the front palate, but it turns much more bitter through the finish, which makes for an enjoyable flavor throughout.

To me this beer taste, smells, and looks a whole lot like Founders Centenial IPA, which definitely isnít a bad thing. Almost a clone in my opinion, aside from a lighter mouthfeel, and possibly a little less malty aftertaste. Totally surprised me; easily the best IPA Iíve had thatís made in the indy area. Bitterness is perfect for this style of IPA and never overpowers the other flavors. Carmel malt forward IPA with near perfect balance; if you like a little malt with your hops youíll enjoy this beer. Maybe a whole lot.

Bottle. A dark golden orange pour with a white head and some lacing. Aroma and taste of citrus, pine, floral hops and malts. A hoppy dry finish . Nice IPA.

Very citrusy aroma. Thin head and lacing. The beer is clouded. The taste is less citrus than the aroma leads to believe. The maltiness is not overwhelming, but in the forefront juxtaposed to the bitterness of the hops.
