3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours brown with a thick off white head. Aroma was rye, caramel, maple and smoke. Taste had a powerful rye taste to it. Mouthfeel was quite sweet in terms of the rye. Rye beers are not my favorite but this was quite an impressive brew. Thicker then most brews from Triumph Brewing. The rye taste was more spicy and powerful then the Jewish Rye in my opinion. An impressive job.
On draft at the brewery, Princeton location. Poured a sarkish murky brown with a nice head. Licorice came through strong in both the aroma and taste. DiarmaidBHK (4907) - Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 4, 2011
This stuff is liquid licorice. Pours an anise color with a significant white head. Taste of licorice and anise on the tongue with other hints of sweet malt. Favorite beer of the day. Chalsk (1104) - North Caldwell, New Jersey, USA - MAR 5, 2011
Pours a murky brown color with a caramel colored head. Has an aroma of coffee. Roasty caramel taste with lots of licorice. Decent but not a 99. Leafs93 (2305) - Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 27, 2011

Draft @ princeton triumph. Dark brown pour with a little tan head. Smells like I’m sniffing rye bread, flavor follows. Initially I wasn’t sure what to think, but its a great rye beer, what i put any other up to.

Draft. Pours a brune body with an off white head. Rye seeds, malt, and some spicy fruit. Light bitter earth finish and a light spiced warming. This was nice. arjoseph (642) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JAN 3, 2009
GABF 2007. This smelled and tasted of straight up caraway seed, like it was concentrated and liquified. It’s not bad, but I’d like some more balance of flavors (like some more characteristic maltiness, although there is some chocolate lurking underneath). Don’t really know what to make of this. A very nice tasting beer. It has a aroma and flavor of a rustic black rye bread. Sampled it at the Philadelphia location on 2/21/2008 ryan (3186) - Beltsville, Maryland, USA - FEB 24, 2008
Dark brown body with a small tan head. The nose is sweet and herbal with tons of rye, caraway and clove. Lightly sweet taste with caramel, toffee, spicy rye and caraway seeds. Medium body is soft with light carbonation.

On tap at the Philly location. Pours a deeper hazy amber with a medium creamy off white head that left some lacing. Aroma of rye bread, grainy malt sweetness, a touch of some fruitiness. Flavor was rye bread, dry, some malty sweetness but mostly dry, spicy and very drinkable. Well done.
