Good spicey hop aroma with malt rounding it out. Poured with a full cream colored head that hung in for a while. Clear amber colored beer. Good hop flavor with a nice malt sweetness in the finsh. A very good bavarian style lager, I will be drinking more of these! muzzlehatch (4959) - Beloit, Wisconsin, USA - FEB 25, 2004
12 oz bottle, courtesy of Tidiaguy. Deep golden color, foamy head. Nice malty/bready aroma. Sweet, very full-bodied for a lager, some smoky hints, light lemon zestiness near the end, aromatic piney hoppiness appears, a well-constructed if unspectacular lager. beermatrix (1497) - Twin Cities, Minnesota, USA - FEB 22, 2004
Color is a nice strong golding amber toned hue, thin off-white head appeared then fizzed out fast, leaves small spots of dripping lace. Smell is faint of crispy fresh toasty malts, somewhat breadish, with a hop note but quite soft on the nose. Taste is pretty light, fresh, crisp, toasty smooth and subtle malts that has a slight breadish quality with some nutty notions. Balanced well with a good mildly spiced hop twinge of bitterness that hits fast, lingers some then disappears pretty fast. Feel is medium to light bodied with a small amount of chalky and dull grainyness into the finish. Don't know what to think of this one other then I won't think about it.
A slightly better then average Marzen. rabuc (143) - carlisle, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 6, 2004
another very good troegs beer! poured a copper/gold color with nice white head. had a distinct lager smell and taste. i detected fruitiness and finished with a small dry bite. i like this beer alot. CaptainCougar (7133) - Columbia, Maryland, USA - DEC 18, 2003
Pours a clear copper with decent carbonation and a half inch off-white head. Bland stale malty lager aroma, but true to style. Body has some light dry caramel and peat malt character with a hint at fruit toward the bittering finish. Has good complexity for a lager, but could still use a little more balance.

UPDATED: APR 24, 2004 This tastes like a candied lager. Sweeeeeet! Its like they threw some fruit cakes in during the fermentation. The first few sips are very good but it soon grows a bit overbearing, eventually turning into drainpour. Slick (1969) - Thief River Falls, Minnesota, USA - NOV 17, 2003
Nice medium dark amber almost copper color, small white head that left a bit of lace behind.Malty, toffee aroma, and fairly sweet. The taste is malty and toffeish with just a nice hint of hops, nicely sweet and all around very good. This is a wonderful brew, and well worth getting a few again if you can find it.Thanks go out to Britt(Urbnhautebourg)for this fine brew. Copper-gold, very long-lasting head for a lager. Nose is sweet, slightly hoppy. Initial flavor is tart and quite cidery. Quite sweet. Finishes slightly hoppy, nice bitterness. A very enjoyable lager. beerluvindave (194) - Canonsburg, Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 29, 2003
Good lager overall, dark color with a hint of smoke in the flavor. Sweetness almost seems artificial. tidiaguy (168) - Hawley, Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 24, 2003
Looks better than it tastes.
I do enjoy the smoky finsh covering the malt sweetness.
Not my favorite lager, but i would drink it again.
