Opaque black beer. Semi soft and semi dry palate. Moderate carbonation. Nice dark malt and some tangy minerals. Not much else here. Pretty standard stuff.
I can’t believe I haven’t tried this beer til now, what’s wrong with me? Draft. Deep maroon color, thick beige head with good retention. Aroma of a Starbucks latte. Taste is burnt bitter espresso without the sugar, but with ground up bitter 70% cacao chocolate bars from Duty Free. Very bitter and dryish finish. A very drinkable, although non-traditional, unsweetened American porter suitable for diabetics. Theydon_Bois (19494) - Hazlemere, the lower Xhitlerns, Buckinghamshire, ENGLAND - MAR 18, 2014

Bottle from Oak Tree. Pours very dark brown with a slight tan head. Aroma suggests meat! It’s full of dark malt, chocolate, and some citrusy hop. So how is that meat? My brain isn’t sharing that info with me. It’s full in body. It’s full of dark stuff, and coffee and chocolate. The roast/toast malt is smooth. The hops render it bitter. It’s full of flavor. Just excellent. Final eval: chocolate and dark stuff. Tmoney99 (14472) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - SEP 14, 2008
