COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Inspired by nature’s untamed beauty, LaGrave (pronounced \l?-gräv\) is the first of our 12.7-oz. corked and caged bottle releases. Bottle conditioned and highly carbonated, this Triple Golden Ale is steeped in the tradition of strong ales originally brewed in Belgium. The unique Belgian yeast forms the bedrock of LaGrave’s complex flavors. Strong and alluring at 8% ABV, LaGrave boasts a sweet, fruity flavor with a well-rounded mouthfeel and semi-dry, lingering bitter finish.
Named after our fave French backcountry ski town, LaGrave’s rare yeast produces a rocky head releasing aromas of crusty bread and earthy spices. Our Triple Golden Ale carves out flavors of ripe pear, straw and black pepper with a dry, champagne finish.

DATE: April 18, 2017... OCCASION: watching Rogue One after a fun day of gardening and weeding... GLASSWARE: Affligem chalice... pours an opaque, dark amber body rife with tiny bubbles... the head is charged, fizzy, white and swift in its descent to a pencil-thin finish... immediate grapefruit, bourbon, pepper, clove, raisin, cranberry, and a nice brown ale sweetness... highly effervescent and lively at the teeth, dry at the finish, and lingering throughout the sip--encouraging the next, and the next... as per blond ales, succulently light and misleading... pepper, lilac, clove, grapefruit, citrus, lemon, and bright malts... a tight, medium-bodied ale that stays within the expectations of a tripel, as Troegs intended... what else to say? this small cork’n’cager is about worth its price tag, and definitely a slow night sipper...

Golden with a white head. Sweet candied malts, fruity, peppery, herbal, leaves, bread. Medium bodied. Sharp, carbonated finish that really bites. Nice.

UPDATED: JAN 30, 2018 Golden color with a small, white head that left nice lacing on the glass. Sweeter honey malts, stone fruits, yeast, pepper, dry alcohol finish.

This one is very spicy. Hints of the clove that is typical of the style, lots of pepper - maybe white pepper? I don't know pepper all that well. Grainy backbone. Not too sweet, but not quite saison dry. Very good.

Bottle. Moderate to heavy grain for the malt, moderate perfume for the hops, light dough for the yeast, with notes of plum, white wine, honey and clove. Head is large creamy/rocky, white, with excellent lacing and is fully lasting. Color is hazy, yet sparkling medium amber. Flavor starts lightly to moderately sweet and acidic, then finishes lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic and faintly bitter. Palate is on the fuller side of medium, oily, with a lively carbonation. Excellent Tripel, with perfect balance between all the ingredients, comlexity, and very true to style.

Much too sugary sweet tripel, but more of less the style. Lasting bubbly head. Lots of yeast. Probably why so sweet, older bottle from Matt Capone's.

Bottle, 375ml. Great appearance, clear copper with a lasting large white head and active bubbles. Nice aroma, light bread, Belgian yeast, light fruit. Flavor is sweet pale malt, sugar, not much bitterness. Medium plus body, high carbonation, crisp. Pretty good.

Medium bead head. Yeasty, with a fair amount of sediment. Aromas of cola, grass, juicy tropical fruit. Sweet on the finish.

375 ml corked and caged bottle. Hazy honey gold color. Small foamy white head. Sweet fruity malt nose has yeasty notes. Flavor is more of the same, with honeyish notes. Dry champagne-like finish. Belgian in style, yet indistinctive.
