Poured clear with a frothy white head, lace was ok. First smell was caramel with a nice hop backbone. I haven’t smelled a beer like this in a while, great. Tastes the same. Well balanced and full of flavor. Caramel malts balanced with the hop character and finishes with a smooth toasty flavor, I love it. this beer drinks well with the best of them. I am mad I can’t get this at home!

Pour is a clear copper with a small white head. Aroma is a melon hop with some pine and caramel malt. Flavor is a fruity hop with a manageable bitterness. I also get some heavy but not overly sweet malt and a little resin left on the tongue. This was a decent beer but a bit too much malt for my liking. It’s not a sweet malt bomb but also not a real hop bomb as well.

35 cl can a fiend brought from NY. Dark amber color, clear, thick creamy offwhite head. Fresh resiny smell. Aroma is resiny, hoppy (dry hopping), caramel malts, yeast, a burnt note, some fusels, vague fruityness, minerals. Taste is structured, balanced, bitter. Texture is quite thick, average carbonation, full body. Aftertaste reminds me of dogfish iipa, mild alcoholic leftover. Quite nice.

Plain and simple this beer gets it all right! The color is a deep amber with a good amount of foamy white head. The smell lets you know you’re getting a hoppy beer with enough malt to hold it’s own, notes of citrus, pine, and caramel. The flavor follows suit balanced well with hoppy bitterness and malt sweetness. I waited a long time to finally get my hands on this and I am not being let down at all.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Maravilhosa.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
A very pretty beer, pours from bottle a clear punch color (pinkish auburn) that wouldn’t be confused with amber in good light. The one-finger ivory head dissipates very fast, but does leave some lacing and a hint of skim.
Nose is pine resin and a whiff of citrus. Unfortunately, the taste doesn’t get much more complex than that. The palate does add a hint of strawberry and some malt sweetness. That doesn’t predominate but balances the hops a bit, so that it’s not as harsh as the 93 IBUs would suggest.
Under the pine, there’s grass, and a slight touch of meatiness as it warms, which is probably the best way to drink this. Not terrible in a pinch, but mainly one for hop festishists.
