At Tröegs, artisanal meets mechanical in a state of IPA we call Perpetual. Cycling through our HopBack vessel and dry-hopping method, this bold Imperial Pale Ale emerges rife with sticky citrus rind, pine balm and tropical fruit.

Thanks to 5000 for sending me this bottle. The beer pours a golden-orange color with a white head. The aroma has a ton of orange and grapefruit notes, as well as a hint of biscuit malt. The flavor is more of the same. I get some nice sweet orange notes, as well as a bit of biscuit malt. The bitterness is low. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

Bottle at home. Clear pale yellow pour, nice chunky lacing. The aroma is pine, mango, citrus. Quite full bodied with good carbonation. Sticky mouthfeel, bitter resinous hops, lots of floral and grapefruit pith flavors as well. Very nicely balanced.

Bottle served in no-nik pint glass: Pours a clean straw hue with a lasting fizzy head and left very good lace upon the glassware. The aroma strike me as less hoppy than I would have expected, a ton of bready malts and pale crystal too. The hops that are there displays a nice juicy fruit ester and some resiny character, hint of hop pepper/clove spice as well. A bit minerally and metallic vapours too. The taste is more malt forward than I cared for but the balance is still pretty nice. A bit fruity and spicy. The mouth feel is a tad sticky and aggressive, metallic finish last a long time. Gotta admit not to sure how old this bottle is and some hop character could have likely faded. For now I am going to rate what is in the glass and this beer failed to meet my expectations.

12 oz. bottle poured 1/4/13. Pours light golden color with fine, thin head, spread nicely across the top. Piney, citrus notes. Very nice fresh hop flavor without overpowering bitterness. Didn’t find much of a malt backbone, but doesn’t need it. Light bodied, great tasting. Very nice, easy-drinking brew.

Overall another successful beer from troegs. Not too hoppy, goes down nice and easy.. I’d like to kick back with this in the pool this summer! I might even try it out in my new beer pong pool racks :-)

Troegs has hit a homerun with Troegs Perpetual IPA (The First Imperial Pale Ale I have tried). Very nice balance of hops with a nice citra finish, obviously they are making great beers as noted by winning Best Mid Sized Brewery of The Year at the GABF!

Bottle. Slightly hazy, almost clear, deep golden color with a medium white head. Aroma of cookie-ish/biscuity malt, floral and citric hops and some notes of pine needles. Sweetish chewy malt flavor, somewhat caramelly, and a bitter finish with grapefruity hops. Medium-bodied, slightly oily mouthfeel. Quite decent, but a bit too malty for my liking.

Floral, spicy hops- very unique take on an ipa. Bubblegum and wheat notes- very delicate. Well balanced by a delicate malt profile but lingering bitterness.

vyvvy (6572) - St. Louis, Missouri, USA - DEC 27, 2012
Pours clear golden with a large white head. The aroma is very hop forward with floral, tropical fruits, tangerine and a bit of mildly sweet malt in the back - very nice. It has a medium lightly rough body with some gentle sharp carbonation. The flavor starts out super hoppy with grapefruit, tangerine, pine, spice and grass. There is some dry caramel and crackers in there as well. The finish is ultra dry with some sulfur added. Excellent IPA.

12oz bottle from Andersons in Sylvania. Gold pour with big white head and soapy stick. Aroma of apricot, pine and bread. Tastes are sweet caramel, bready, earthy hops, tropical citrus. Good, drinkable.
