on tap-pours an off white head and hazy gold color. Aroma is medium malt, orange/anise, spices-clove. Taste is medium malt-licorice/anise, rock candy, spice-clove/peppery. OK effervescence. stegosaurus (1882) - Levittown, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 5, 2008
Bottle sampled with Mad_Indian. Pours light amber with a small off-white head. Aroma of spices, belgian yeast, citrus, and fruit. The flavor is sweet, biscuit, spices, citrus, and alcohol is noticeable. Boring brew for such a good style. Rciesla (5499) - Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA - JUN 2, 2008
Bottle from capones. Pours a Light brown changing to a lighter yellow as you finish the body. Head quickly diminishes to nothing. Aroma is sweet malt and loads of spices. Flavor is sweet malt with a strong overlying spicy yeast character and a good warming. Solid beer. jonnabrix (137) - Newberrytown, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 31, 2008
My wonderful husband brought a growler of this home fresh from the brewery. Belgian yeast and spices dominate both the aroma and the flavor. Sweet, but not overly so. I quite enjoy this scratch. whaleman (2178) - North Wales, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 30, 2008
Loose, sudsy white head. Cloudy brown banana toned body with matching unripened banana peel and orange citrus aromas. Smells grassy green and rubbery. Some alluring caramel sugar and vanilla tones improve the staging of this beer somewhat. Sharp, pungent, yeasty flavor. The yeast seems tired out here. Lots of raw herbal character and indelicate spicing. I’m a big fan of Troegs but the Scratch beers have me scratching my head and I’ve pretty much had them all.

12oz bottle shared courtesy of TomDecapolis. Poured a medium and hazy amberish/orange color with a very small sized off white head. Aromas of spices, anise, fruity, and yeast. Tastes of breadiness, spices, and candi sugar. On the sweeter side with light alcohol in the finish. TomDecapolis (4618) - Milton, Delaware, USA - MAY 29, 2008
Pours a lightly hazy golden with amber notes and a smaller bubbly white head head. Aroma of ginger, lots of other Belgian yeast esters, licorice, star anise and some citrus notes. Flavor was bready, lots of spicy notes, ginger, anise and a few others I can’t pinpoint. Light alcohol. Wasn’t a huge fan of the spices. MadIndian (2743) - Levittown, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 28, 2008
Bottle from Capones, Sampled with Stegosaurus. Bronze pour with white head. Mile bread and floral hop aroma. Some spice in the taste. Nothing great here. nimbleprop (8297) - SouthWest, Washington, Washington DC, USA - MAY 18, 2008
Sampled at Max’s Taphouse in Baltimore. Pours a transparent copper orange with a ringing, soft white head and tight bubbles. Mild aroma that’s a little boozy, grassy and yeasty. Flavor is similar to the aroma with more candy sweetness and just a little sour. Medium thickness on the palate. mmather (185) - Colorado, USA - APR 24, 2008
from a 12 oz bottle. nicely sweet, but a little over the top on spices. That said, they still make a nice beer as they don’t completely overpower the beer. I liked it. Not likely to win any medals, but this is my type of beer.
