Had Beet it on tap at the Stoneyard in Brockport. They were all dressed in PSU wear, we had no idea it was a Penn State bar! Not bad, drinkable, but not great, and I am not sure what designates it a Saison. Very tart, interesting palate has some body and depth, but tart-ness dominates. Pours a light cloudy yellow with a foamy white head. Aroma of clove banana and spice. Taste is lightly sweet and spicy with cloves and banana notes. Finishes lightly peppery and bitter. Smooth and refined. Not too "live" for a saison.

A - Pours mostly cloudy golden orange with a nice one finger tall white head, dissipating down to next to nothing, leaving spotty trails of lace down part of the glass.
S - Smells of mild fruity saison yeast, light spice, a bit of sugary sweetness, some minerals and a dash of earthy basement must. Nothing really stands out over the rest but it’s all there.
T - Starts off with some fruity/spicy saison yeast and a bit of light sugary sweetness quickly giving way to hints of wet basement must, earthy minerals and some light barnyard funk. Much like the nose, all of the flavors you would expect are there but they remain well balanced. Finish is a little sweet with some light funk, lingering on the palate long after the finish.
M - Medium body with moderate carbonation. Slick, funky feel from start to finish. I had no problem drinking my half pour in no time flat.
O - I enjoyed this one. It has a nice mild flavor profile, it is well balanced and it is pretty easy to drink. If you get the chance you should definitely give it a try, when else will you get to try a beet saison?
