Clear brown pour with an orange tint. Thing light tan head. Very bubbly. Yeasty aroma with molasses and brown sugar notes. Very dry and bitter. Hops with a bit of molasses. Bitter finish. Not bad. A little weak. blankboy (7689) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - FEB 10, 2009
Bottle at ’Cole’s Rare Beer Fest’, Buffalo, NY. Pours a clear amber-brown with a small diminishing off-white head. Mild malty aroma, a bit toasty, along with light pine hops. Flavour, also mild, is malty along with light hops, some alcohol and a hint of spices. Starts earthy and finishes dry. Medium to full bodied. Good, not great. kkearn (1165) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 7, 2009
12oz bottle, from Capone’s (Norristown, PA). Pours deep orange brown, capped wit a moderate sized khaki head. Aroma of fruit, toffee, caramel, smoke, and earthy hops. Flavor is on the earthy side, with toffee, peat, smoke, earthy hops, and pine nuts. Grapefruity hop finish. JahNoth (1039) - Rochester, New York, USA - FEB 6, 2009
Sweet malty, light caramel nose. Sparkling reddish amber in color with very little head. Light caramel, some choco, amarillo tangerines and some cobwebs from the yeast. Medium bodied with some tangy fruit at the finish. I rather like it. Thanks to the crew at BOTW! afireinside96 (923) - Mountville, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 5, 2009
I was rather disappointed by this round of Scratch. Bland nose, not much flavor, and too much hop bitterness for the style. Only flavor is biscuit, maybe a bit of nuts. I guess they can’t all be zingers.

Brewed in the USA......Courtesy of AFI96 thanks waylo !!! Pours a dark amber color with a med-foamy off white head. Aroma of leather, funk and grains. Taste of straw, grass, honey and earth. The mouthfeel is ok and finishes on the dry side. This brew to me was like drinking a very bad dopplebock. Sammy (12195) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - FEB 3, 2009
A wonderful little gift from Mike, in Buffalo. A style I do like, an old ale, this was a cross between that and a winter warmer and an ESB. Wonderfully tamed hops and barley, with a fruitiness. Marvellous drinkability.Pours dark fruity brown with a minor white head. Fruitiness in aroma. ABove average mouthfeel.

Bottle, Cole’s Rare Beer fest. Light brown, small off white head. Roasty hoppy aroma. Taste is more roast, some hops, and a very burnt finish. Decent but simple straightforward stuff. bp (922) - New York, New York, USA - JAN 29, 2009
Bottle: pours a dark reddish-brown with a white head, some hops and grains in the aroma but fairly weak nose overall, taste is a little bitter, malt, caramel, spice, with a dry, spiced finish. tomthompson89 (1982) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JAN 29, 2009
