Scratch #37 features Warrior and Cluster hops with a touch of Columbus. It pours a bright gold with a white cap and soft carbonation. Ripe fruits are present on the nose, and continue in the taste giving a lush, tropical papaya-like flavor. This ample bitterness is offset by sweet Munich malt that lingers through each taste. Enjoy our latest IPA foray, and stay tuned for future experiments in the style. Research has rarely been so rewarding.

Bottle. Poured into a tulip glass a orange golden color with a white coastered head. A very mellow aroma with touches of fruit like mango, pineapple, and orange. It doesn’t give off that bitter rind flavor you find in most IPA’s. Sweet start that transitions to a sweet tropical fruit like flavor mixed with some rind type bitterness. Not really all that bitter though but it does linger a little. Minimal alcohol notes. Very easy drinking. Medium mouthfeel. Overall, pretty well balance without being overly hoppy or malty.

Good IPA. Got a case of this and a case of 38 for Xmas. Similar IPA’s, both pretty well done but not over-the-top, double IPA hoppy. A good pick up but no need to go to great lengths to get. I liked the Fresh Hop IPA (35?) better.

HUGE thanks to Justin for sending this great surprise my way! A- Body is a very hazy brass color. Pours with a 1 finger or so foamy white head which eventually fades to a thin collar. Some lacing is left behind in the glass. S- Mostly exotic fruit in the nose-mango, peach, a bit of grapefruit and pineapple-nose is really juicy and fruity. Minimal herbal hops as well. T- This is a lot like a Southern Tier IPA upfront-lots of herbal/grassy hops, with a mild exotic fruit background. Finish is packed full of spicy hops and some citrus juice-finish is rather dry if slipped slowly-but extra spicy if sipped repetitively. M- Medium to high tinlgly carbonatoin and a lightweight slightly juicy body. Troegs always does a nice job with mouthfeel. D- This is no hopback or nugget nectar-but this is a prety good IPA overall. The flavors arent extremely bright (this IPA has aged slightly-but it doesnt taste stale at all). The juicy mouthfeel mixed with the spicy character really makes this unique. Good job by Troegs-and I cant wait to try 38 and 39 (may set up a trade for 40)

Thanks to Kiel for this bottle, poured into a tulip. Pours a bright hazy golden yellow with a small pillowy white head that recedes quickly to a thick collar, leaving very spotty lacing. The aroma is mainly tropical fruits with mangos and pineapples mixing with some faint sweet caramel malts. A bit of lemongrass as well. The taste has a ton of tropical fruits up front, more sweet than bitter actually, at least in the beginning. Underneath the hops is a small malt backbone which fades away with the tropical fruits in the finish, where the bitterness is more apparent. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with a low, soft carbonation and sticky with juicy hops. This is a nice IPA and one that will satisfy those who love juicy tropical fruits with minimal bitterness.

12oz bottle. Pours a clear orangish copper color with a well formed white head. Aggressive hoppy aroma, citric and piney with some tropical/pineapple notes. Great flavor, big on tropical fruits, pineapple and mango. Pine and resin in the background with sweet malts, but low malt for an east coast IPA. Medium bodied with a nice resinous mouthfeel and average carbonation. One of the better IPAs in this series.

12oz. Bottles: Faint aroma of hops, light Pils malt, light tropical fruit, light citrus, light grapefruit, and slight papaya. Poured amber/gold in color with a small to medium-sized, creamy, dense, rocky, white head that greatly diminished but lasted throughout as a film on top of the beer, as well as around the edges. Hazy. Sparkling. Excellent lacing. Flavor is light to medium sweet and medium to heavily bitter. Tastes of hops, grapefruit, light tropical fruit, light malt, light citrus, and a hint of papaya. Medium body. Lightly oily, then lightly dry texture. Average carbonation. Medium sweet, medium bitter, hops, slight malt, grapefruit, and citrus finish is lightly dry. 7.7%ABV is completely hidden throughout.

12 oz bottle. Pours a slightly hazy dark gold body with a small frothy white head that left some nice lacing. The nose is bursting with fresh grapefruity hops and a solid pils malt backbone. The flavor is just as fresh as the nose, fairly aggressively hoppy with a nice clean and crisp bitterness that just makes you want to take another big gulp. The maltiness is full and bready with just a touch of sweetness. Medium bodied and slightly chewy, the fine prickly carbonation brings out the bitterness well. A very well balanced and drinkable IPA.
