Pours dark but not so very dark that one thinks Impy Stout based on the appearance. Tons of brown sugar and plum on the aroma. Lots of sweet molasses (not sticky) , again plums, hint of smoke, pie cherries, bits of chocolate. Perhaps not a fully fitting metaphor but this seems like a poor man’s Adam, less smoky, less leathery, but interesting and quite reasonably complex but more to the point, entirely enjoyable, not hot in the least. Nice!
12 oz bottle pours deep brown and black with a nice tan head that leave a ring around the collar of the glass. Great nutty and deep chocolate aroma. Dark fruit, coffee, and chocolate in the initial taste. Alcohol is very present. Very nice Imp Stout. A bit unbalanced, but nice. WeeHeavySD (3387) - Portland, Oregon, USA - AUG 23, 2008
Bonus I believe but from who I can’t recall shared with my girlfriend Cyn who loves the PA Beers. Pours black with a tan head. Nose is roasty. Taste is sweet and roasty and malty. Much better than i expected from the reviews. Roasty and not bad. badbeer (434) - Iowa, USA - AUG 18, 2008
Pours blackish with a beige head that retains pretty well and leaves some lacing. Smell is of caramel, malted milk balls, dark fruit, and some roast. Taste is of caramel, dark fruits, malted milk balls, milk chocolate, and ash. Higher than medium carbonation and medium/full body. Pretty good, age might help this one as it seems a bit hot right now. GAManiac (1944) - Atlanta, Georgia, USA - AUG 14, 2008
Bottle. Pours dark, dark brown with a small, dense tan head that dissipates fairly quickly to a collar and a bit of swirl on top. The lacing is sporadic. The smell is slightly bitter roasted malts and oatmeal with a strong sweet dark fruit aroma as well. The taste starts with a bitter chocolate and roasted malt kick that gives way to the smooth oatmeal flavor. There is only a hint of fruit in the taste and the roasted notes leave a lingering bitterness on the palate. The mouthfeel is medium but a little on the thin side for the style with moderate carbonation. This is my third Scratch Beer (after 4 and 12) and the least impressive of the three. A good beer but nothing memorable.

12oz bottle. Pours a dark brown with a tan head which dissipated quickly. Nose was of roasted malt, chocolate and some smoke. Taste was of roast coffee, chocolate and burnt malt. Mouthfeel was medium with a little hop bitterness. Seemed more like a stout than an Impy stout. NYHarvey (2153) - New York, New York, USA - JUL 18, 2008
Courtesy of Dickinsonbeer. The aroma holds perfumey alcohol, dark chocolate, roasted malt and a suggestion of dark fruit. Dark brown to ruby black the body holds a thin mocha colored head. Very thin fore for an Impy...chocolate, smooth and sweet. It’s very much not to style and the flavor range is laughably narrow, but what is there is pretty tasty.

UPDATED: JUL 14, 2008 Bottle thanks to hopdog. I really thought this was a BW after tasting it, and I really enjoyed it. Pours a dark mahogany color with a thin beige head. The aroma is full of berries, sweet chocolate and brown sugar. The flavor is balanced and excellent; a smooth and crisp fruity aspect, mostly raspberries and strawberries, a sweet chocolate and brown sugar, some roasted malts and a smooth body. No way this is 9.6%. It is so easygoing and tasty, there is a ton of warmth that I enjoyed. I really enjoyed this brew, fruity and sweet, but really balanced out by a strong hop presence that leaves a bitterness in the finish. Very damn good. 12oz bottle from MrBendo. Aroma: Sweet roasted malt with notes of chocolate, caramel, grain, and raisins. Appearance: Dark, dark brown in color with no highlights. Light tan head was full and creamy with great retention. Good lacing. Flavor: Sweet roasted malt hits first with notes of chocolate and coffee. Raisins, smoke, caramel. Flavor peters out into the finish and leaves a weird ashy astringency. Palate: Medium-full bodied. Moderate carbonation. Light alcohol warmth in back of mouth. Overall: This looked awesome, smelled good, but tasted....meh. Flavors don’t build and just end up falling flat. kyzr (1548) - Montana, USA - JUL 8, 2008
Bottle thanks to hopdog. Dark brown pour with good sized brown head. Roasted malt and sugar on the nose. Flavor was much the same with hints of chocolate and light roasted coffee. Body was not as thick as it looks.
