Tap. Pours clear tawny with a medium, frothy off-white head medium retention with good lacing. Aroma is fragrant floral, fruity and grapefruit hops, biscuit malt and fruity esters. Flavor is heavy hops and bitterness, supporting malt and fruity esters with a dry finish. Full body, medium warmth and carbonation. hopdog (12543) - Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 30, 2011

Draft at Craft Ale. Pours hazy coppery with 1-finger eggshell head. Nose is orange marmalade, spicy peppery, piney hops. Tastes rich, with a big caramel malt flavor to match the piney, peppery, tangeriney and hop flavors.

Bottled. Poured a healthy shade of medium orange with a dense, well-retained off-white head. The aroma picked up juicy orange, grapefruit, and grassy hoppage over soft caramel and bready notes.. quite spicy and hoppy, but the sweet malts stuck on the back of the nose. The flavor found tangy pine resin, juicy grapefruit, and black peppery notes throughout.. sweet caramel, bread, and a touch of vanilla supported.. finished with lots of fresh resiny bitterness and an aftershock of citrus. Medium-bodied, well-carbonated, and spicy on the palate.. very fresh.. not the best flow through the mouth.. overall quite solid. kramer (6682) - Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 22, 2012
12 oz bottle. Pours a clear dark copper body with a nice frothy light beige head that had pretty nice retention. The nose is very hoppy and bright with lots of citrus and some pine resin notes. There’s a touch of the dark crystal malt peeking thru, but not enough to be overly distracting. Very bitter and biting up front, a mouthfull of hops in every sip. The malt is a little heavier than my preference for the style, but it’s mostly due to the crystal malt. It especially comes out late in the finish. Mouthfeel is pretty full and sticky with moderate fizzy carbonation. The hops almost leave a film of resiny goodness on your teeth. Pretty solid overall, a good bit shy of Nugget Nectar though. This poured a lgihter amber color with a white head. Aroma was lots and lots of citrus, light pine and some grainy and caramel malt. Flavor was fairly bitter, nice hops taste, and balanced by some malt sweetness. Definitely not my favorite DIPA, but it was still pretty good. sonnycheeba (5988) - Federal Hill, Baltimore, Maryland, USA - FEB 4, 2012
Tap. Pours deep, clear amber with an average, creamy off-white head; good retention and lacing. Aroma is earthy and floral hops, caramel, straw, and light toast. Flavor is light malt, heavy hops, and light esters; slightly sweet, dry finish. Medium body, carbonation, and warmth. Thorpe429 (5035) - , Illinois, USA - FEB 26, 2012
On tap at Churchkey. Served in a snifter.
Pours a nice amber color with a good white head and a bit of lacing. The nose carries some fresh pine needles and a bit of citrus plus a bit of bready malt in the background. Flavor has a good dose of hops and fairly-prominent malt presence. Not as hoppy or as great as Nugget Nectar. Medium body with a semi-dry finish and nice bitterness. PRetty good.
