12 oz bottle from brewery. Very resiny with loads of hops masking a slight alcohol burn finishing with a somewhat sticky sweet hop bomb, with a bitter end. The hophead in me causes me to bow in reverence but the alcohol presence detracts from the overall taste. Any enjoyable DIPA, but I in my humble opinion, hopslam or maharajah is better. However, considering last night I was at a party where the host served Yuengling "Premium" Beer, who am I to get picky. Damico (3147) - Royersford, Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 29, 2012
Pours copper amber translucent with a tan head. The aroma is light fruity hops, citrus mostly. The flavor is hoppy and malty, it is probably about 3 months old now with a good crisp smooth body. peteinSD (1469) - San Diego, California, USA - APR 27, 2012
Bottle from Jason - thanks! Dark amber pour with a small but frothy off-white head. Aroma is resinous pine and thick, sweet malt. No hop bitterness detectable. Taste is pine and medium bitterness up front followed by sweet, dense malt that suggests figs, caramel, and spicy dough. Even and coating mouthfeel. If I were to review this beer from the perspective of what I want in a IIPA it is a fail as it is way too malt heavy and the hops presence is laughable . . . but the beer is well made and I’m enjoying the heavy malt presence with its nuances and the contrasting pine and bitterness. Pretty much a lightly hopped strong ale but it works for me. Hophead22 (2879) - Redlands, by way of Wisconsin,, California, USA - MAR 22, 2012
12oz bottle. Rating #21. Dark amber with an orange glow and a small off-white head. Not a bad aroma, picking up a little sweet citrus and a bit of caramel malt. More sweetness in the flavor, above average bitterness and more grapefruit in the finish. Nice. (2263) bmerz (741) - Brooklyn, New York, USA - AUG 17, 2012
Draught at Breukelen Bier Merchants a few months ago for a a Troegs event. An orange beer with moderate head and lace. Aroma is orange and mango. Flavor is mostly bitter sweet orange. Palate starts soapy then goes moderately dry. Pretty good IPA though didn’t seem to have the heft of a double.

Draft at Varga, tapped the keg, strong hops with more mild aftertaste, not much bite, tea-like, long, heavy head retention GhostFace (321) - Wisconsin, USA - MAY 5, 2012
12oz bottle. amber in color. solid tan head. hop aroma that seems to have faded. flavor was more on the malty side than hoppy. i think i need to try a fresher version of this in the future and re-rate, flavors weren’t reminiscent of the recipe.. Thorpe429 (5035) - , Illinois, USA - FEB 26, 2012
On tap at Churchkey. Served in a snifter.
Pours a nice amber color with a good white head and a bit of lacing. The nose carries some fresh pine needles and a bit of citrus plus a bit of bready malt in the background. Flavor has a good dose of hops and fairly-prominent malt presence. Not as hoppy or as great as Nugget Nectar. Medium body with a semi-dry finish and nice bitterness. PRetty good.
