12 oz bottle. Pours a hazy rusty dark amber color with a medium cream colored head. Aroma of malty cocoa, boysenberries, raspberries and light peppery notes. Taste of malt, mild cocoa powder, boysenberries, raspberries, pepper hints and light cloves. Mildly tart and tangy in the finish. Darkmagus82 (2302) - - JUN 11, 2014

Served in a 10 oz chalice glass
Appearance – Served an mahogany/dark amber color with a nice slightly off white head. The head had some persistence, but eventually gave way to some decent lacing.
Smell – The smell is of some cocoa with a nice sweetness of caramel and some good bready malt. There are sweeter fruit aromas that are present as well; aromas of banana and berries are most prevalent, but some other lighter dark fruit aromas are present as well.
Taste – There is a nice biscuit base that is present throughout the taste. In the beginning the fruity flavors that were detected in the nose are quite heavy. Banana and berries are strong, mixing with the biscuit and some yeasty flavors quite well. More towards the middle the taste transitions from some of the berry and banana to more cocoa. The berry and banana are never lost though, and in the end there is this rather satisfying cocoa fruit and malt flavor left on the tongue. Quite nice.
Mouthfeel – The thickness of the body was a bit above average and the carbonation level was rather average. It was fitting for the nice complex characteristics of the brew.
Overall – This was a nice beer. While some of the flavors and aromas many not seem to complement each other on paper before you experience the beer , once you give it a try you notice they go together quite nicely. If you get a chance give it a try. This is one I would go to again and again. evanlarkin (307) - Northfield, Minnesota, USA - FEB 22, 2012
Muddy amber. Smell is like fruity vanilla from heaven. Tastes wheat, caramelly, and has some dark fruits too. Sticks to my mind, not to my tongue. Travlr (25556) - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - FEB 21, 2012
Draft at Churchkey, courtesy of staff - thanks! Murky dark amber color, massive tan head, decent lacing. Aroma of fruity and earthy bubblegum. Taste has lots of mixed fruits and vanilla. Interesting. machfive55 (358) - Columbia, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 23, 2012
On tap at the brewery poured brown, with an awesome chocolatey aroma, the beer tasted of chocolated and caramel, but finishes slightly on the sour side. Heatly alcohol level but no burn in the palate, this is a very drinkable beer, very tastey.

Pours a hazy amber with a thin tan head. Aroma is fruity and malty...light red licorice. Flavor is malty but less fruity than the aroma suggests...nice chocolate notes. Mouthfeel is medium and the finish is fruity/choclatey. boFNjackson (4201) - Portland, Oregon, USA - MAR 19, 2012
Bottle... Poured dark amber with a thin head. Nice sweetness and crockery malt flavors. Low alcohol appearance probably masked by fruit characters. Earthy and balanced. Nice bock, but not very Reinheitsgebot ;-) DocLock (10836) - Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 6, 2012
Bottle. Pours turbid rusty ruby coppery with 2-finger khaki head. Nose is earthy brown sugary vanilla, berries, definite cacao. Tastes of berries, earthy brown sugary caramel malt, berry, and a slightly fruity and sweet finish with a high level of complexity. Ughsmash (7508) - Pewaukee, Wisconsin, USA - APR 14, 2012
Bottled. Poured hazy medium amber with an inch or so of uniform, well-retained beige head. The aroma picked up a whole lot of cocoa and a whole lot of banana, with chocolate-covered raspberries and sweet nutty notes accenting.. very interesting. The flavor found nutty notes, cocoa, vanilla, and a bit of tart wheat at the core.. chocolate-covered berries emanate outward, along with dry wheat and cocoa powder.. more berries, chocolate, and tart wheat on the dry finish. Medium-bodied with hefty carbonation on the palate.. dry as mentioned.. good feel and flow.. this was interesting, and I’d gladly have another. callmemickey (4549) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 28, 2012
A: Muddy red-brown body. Not much in the way of a head. Slightest bit of pale khaki foam. Minimal residue left behind on the glass.
S: Tootsie rolls. chocolate, caramel, mild banana-fruityness, a bit of booze wafts off this one.
T: Milder, more reserved version of the nose. chocolate, caramel, berries, banana, pepper, booze.
M: Medium bodied. Silky. Just the slightest bit of tartness and heat in the finish.
O: An interest beer that could develop quite well with age I think.
