Amber to copper in color with a good head. Sweetness in the taste at first but with some sourness at the back of the mouth. Aroma has some spice character and bananas. Good enjoyable beer. wetherel (1883) - Cupertino, California, USA - FEB 24, 2008
Bonus bottle from the Epeeist yesterday. Thanks Chris! Pours thick cloudy dark amber. Cool looking with a frothy small bubble lingering head. Aroma is interesting with lots banana and bubblegum. Very strong aroma. A little bit of spicy bite on the sides of the tongue. Leans dry. Semi drinkable. BBB63 (6557) - La Porte, Indiana, USA - FEB 20, 2008
UPDATED: JUL 18, 2008 Bottle and served in Aventinus glass: Muddled deep amber hue with a constant frothy head but minimal lace. The aroma displays all the esters I would expect from the genre with banana, clove, bubblegum, caramel, toast, fig, hint of smoke and some alcoholic vapours. The spicy ester just hangs around the nose forever!

The taste has a roundness of malt throughout with a slight burnt finish supported by a light-handed fruity quality and just a dash of herbal hops. The wheat really is noticeable in midsection and melds the flavor profile together very well. The finish shows off the spicy qualities of the yeast that lingerings on towards the chalky dry finish. A bit sweet upon the aftertaste, nougat and butterscotch or it would have been a 10 for flavor profile. The mouth feel is soft and somewhat chewy, dry and a touch warming.
Overall a wonderful example of a style I wish more brewers would attempt. Right up there with the best of the genre. GET YA SOME!!!
The color was opaque and medium dark brown. The head was creamy, thin, and off-white. The aroma was very spicy, alcohol, and some peppers. The flavor was wheat, alcohol, spicy, clove, and pepper. The palate was medium-bodied. The finish was warm. emacgee (4677) - Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA - FEB 18, 2008
Thanks whoever sent me this. Pours a thick brown with with a two finger tan head. The aroma is sour and wheaty, banana, clove, spicy, a little citrus. The flavor is full, mellow wheat, clove and banana, lemongrass finish. Nice mouthfeel, full with a soft carbonation. Very nice weizen bock. RiverHorse (457) - New Jersey, USA - FEB 14, 2008
Pours a deep murky brown into the weizen glass with a short white head. Scents of caramel, figs and brown sugar. Very sticky and sweet taste with some spices and malty flavors to finish. I enjoyed this beer. JB175 (1665) - Bucks County, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 7, 2008
Cloudy orange-amber pour into an Aventinus glass. Powerfully sweet aroma of citrus and banana, lots of brown and cane sugar, clove, and additional spices. Flavor is quite sweet with lots of sugary wheat – Banana, apple, and citrus dominate with some clove and spice mixed in nicely. A very pleasant tingly sensation and full bodied mouthfeel round this one out nicely. Good W-bock, wouldn’t mind seeing it in their regular rotation. jasonp (1581) - Ashburn, Virginia, USA - FEB 7, 2008
Bottle, thanks mj. Cloudy dirty brown, like apple cider. Pleasant clove/banana nose with a smoky undertone. The flavor is heavy on the clove then yeasty banana, toffee, smokiness and a touch of pear. Very bold and full-flavored. Very thick and chewy on the palate with moderate carbonation. Enjoyable.
