Playing a bit of catch up on this one. Reviewed from notes.
Served on-tap in the Tasting room.
A - Pours golden yellow with a big, pillowy two finger tall white head leaving spider webs of lace down most of the glass.
S - Smells of the typical Westmalle yeast, mildly toasted grain, bubble gum, clove; everything you would expect from a belgian pale ale. The extra hops are a bit slow to show themselves but when they do it really helps to round it out.
T - Taste is remarkably similar to the nose. Starts off with a quick citric hop punch quickly giving way to some toasty caramel malt, spicy yeast, bubble gum and fresh herbs. The hops really help to keep things balanced initially, as it warms the belgian characteristics start to take over, bringing the overall drinkability down a notch.
M - Medium-Light body with moderate carbonation. The typical Belgian feel is dumbed down by the added hop bitterness, making it even easier to drink, at least for me.
O - A very nice example of a hybrid belgian pale. It almost tastes like Dreamweaver with the Hopback hop profile. Glad I could try this one, it was gone pretty fast, and for good reason.
