Followers of our Scratch Beer series may remember last year’s Cocoa Porter, Scratch #54. It was a rousing success, so we decided to return to the original recipe but give it a bit of a tweak. When we brewed it last year, we utilized approximately one pound of cocoa powder per barrel. This time around, we amped up the recipe to include a whopping THREE POUNDS per barrel! Now I don’t claim to be a mathematician, but I think that works out to be three times the cocoa powder we used last time. So if you like your beer with some intense chocolately goodness, then Scratch #85 was brewed especially for you.
