3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
A 12 oz. bottle filled my goblet glass with a copper red body and a handsome tan collar, but the head disappeared quickly and left little discernable lacing. The aroma is bold--sweet and malty--and features the advertised dark cherry and Christmas spice. There’s a good deal of alcohol in the nose as well. This ale starts out quite sweet, but I found the medium-body a bit surprising for a seasonal offering of this type. The Pilsner and Munich malts definitely lighten the character of this beer. Strong cherry flavors form the backbone of the mid-palate flavor profile, but an unmistakable clove and cinnamon spiciness rounds things out in the lead up to the long dry finish. The 11 percent ABV lends a lingering alcohol character. A nice Christmas beer.
Definitely one of the first and better spiced holiday ale. Deep red color. Nice yeasts, spice, and barley. Thick mouth feel. Lots of residual sugars. Tap... and bottle 3.9 for too strong. iceman15658 (144) - Acme, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 30, 2017
12oz bottle. Deep coppery red. cherry aroma. This beer has a strong alcohol flavor, more than expected, a nice change of pace brew vipinvelp (4473) - Velp, NETHERLANDS - MAY 17, 2017

Best thing put out by Troegs. One of my favorite beers. Delicious aroma and taste and well priced for its strength.

pours cherry red with white fluffy head. the aroma is cherry, honey, caramel, sweet smell. and slight tartness. the flavor is cherry, honey, some cloves and spiciness with caramel at the end. the body is thick and malty and very filling, overall this is a nice beer for a cold night, and leaves you wanting to take another sip.

12 oz. bottle pours dark red/ maroon color with some off white head retention. Aroma of plums, cherry skins, honey, and light traces of cinnamon. The flavor is a exact duplicate of the aroma and the alcohol is hidden well but provides a slight warming after the sip. A nice winter warmer. Bottle into snifter. Pours a nice ruby with minimal head and lacing. Aroma of Belgian yeast, sugary sweetness, and booze. Tastes of medicinal cherry, root beer, cloves, and your typical Belgian yeast notes. The 11% is definitely warming me up. Overall this is good, but my mind isn’t blown Lowe1983 (1605) - Dayton, Ohio, USA - JAN 9, 2017
Pours a amber color with an off-white head. Aroma is sweet with dark fruits, caramel malts, banana, and some alcohol. Stone cherry tartness comes out on the flavor with the dark fruits and caramel malts. Tiny bit of warming on the finish as well. BroadestTom (446) - Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 8, 2017
Aroma wheat, honey, spices,
Appearance amber, red, clear, white foam, tan foam,
Taste medium sweetness,
Palate light body, medium body,
Overall a sweet holiday beer that is very deceptive when it comes to the alcohol. One of my favorite "Christmas" beers. I would suggest this beer to a friend. beern (126) - Alabama, USA - DEC 28, 2016
Pours ruby red with a one finger off-white head with an aroma of honey and mild mahogany. Tastes sweet of cherries & malt and a mild honey finish with hidden alcohol.
