COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

The crown cap on my bottle came off w/ nary a pop. Seems like there might be a bottling problem at this brewery. The world must know so I will rate it nonetheless. It pours a murky brown orange and headless. Nose is raisin malt and it is a slightly sweet beer overall. It is also very acidic in a sort of malt vinnegar kind of way. There is not much nuance to it just sourness and a lingering astringent taste in the finish. I found this enjoyable after a fashion but what I got is not really what I’m looking for in an Oud Bruin.

Bottle, shared with Parksy and Grippitis. Very hazy medium brown with a lively white head. Sour pittted fruits up front, doughy caramel malts lend body and sweetness. As yeasty and malty as it is sour. I liked it.

The Diamond, Brooklyn tap: Pours brown with a small off-white head. Aroma is vinegar, caramel, fruit, and a hint of chocolate. Taste is pleasantly sour. This wasn’t very sweet at all. Nice dark beer flavors mixing it all up as well. Nice.

Tap at the Bishops Arms (Savoy), Malmo. Poured a clear dark brown with a frothy light tan head. The aroma is yeast and acidic citrus fruit. The flavour is medium sour with a light acid weak vinegar palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Lots of sourness up front in the aroma and the flavour but not so much in the palate and the finish. Maybe this is the way all sours should be.
