COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Shangrila was the first creation from Birrificio Troll. It is of dark amber color and has a persistent head and with its 8.5 alc./vol. it warms the palate and the heart. Shangrila is brewed using malt, English hops and a mixture of spices from the Himalayas: tandori (Blend of coriander, cumin, garlic powder, paprika, ginger, cardamom, saffron), curry, pepper, anise. Shangrila is a complex full bodied beer with exotic scents and an intense flavor. Shangrila is a perfect companion for meats of every type, especially ones grilled over charcoal. It also pairs very well with fine cheeses.

UPDATED: OCT 22, 2007 Bottle. Nearly clear burnt orange with a large head. Aroma is exotic spices and pale malt. Spices I found most prominent were yellow curry, garlic and cumin, just to scratch the surface. I found it unpleasant. Maybe it’s an acquired taste, but I won’t be trying it again.

Have you ever been eating Indian food, and you bite into something that you aren’t sure you should eat, but you don’t want to look like a pig and spit it out? That’s this beer all over.

Pours out a murky brownish-red color that appears like discharge from a waste water facility. Aroma is of light spice, oxidation and aforementioned waste water discharge. This beer survived only a few sips before my brother gave me the okay that I could dump this crud. Yuck!! Not sure if I got a bad bottle or not, but this was a complete drain pour.

Shared bottle at RBNAG 11 @ Haandverkerstuene, Oslo. Hazy nougat brown body, small white head. Nose is caramel, booze, raisins and hints of yeast. Nail polish, nuts and alcoholic yeasty tones. Strange, chemical-like and definitely not good. Some extra points for originality, though, keep on trying Italy! :-P

15.10.2011. 0,75l Bottle. Dark golden brown colour with white head. This beer must be infected by something. Its both sweet and sour, and there is lots of alcohol! I cant decide wether its rothen fruit or nail polish remover.

Pours a cloudy brownish color. This became a drain pour. It tasted oxidized but my guess is that it’s just a shitty beer. I should have known better - waste of money.
