BBE 1995. Amber of color with a small white head. An aroma of port, sweets and honey. A flavor of honey and sweets.

Citrus and peach smell. Peach colour, small creamy head. Tastes of apricot, and raisins, more like a barley wine. Complex, hides the alcohol well. Very good.

From old tasting notes. Hazy Amber color with some particulate matter. Brief beige head. Strong medicinal alcohol nose. Bittersweet malt flavor with a sweetish finish.

The palest and mildest tasting doppelbock I've ever seen and tasted- even at 7.4% by vol. Golden colored like a pilsner and even a typical lagerish aroma. However, a strong malt presence and alcoholic strength separates it from regular lagers. Not a bad beer, but it doesn't compare to doppelbocks like Celebrator and Salvator.

Bottle. Vintage 1995 (best before) - 7.0%. Pours a brownish golden colour with a diminishing head. Aroma is oxydised. Sweet Madeira and notes of honey. Flavour is sweet with honey notes. Oxydised. Madeira again. Grassy notes as well. Finish is the same, but also has notes of alcohol. Overall an interesting try, but would like to try a fresh one. 26-09-09.

whaleman (2178) - North Wales, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 14, 2006
Bright golden body with visible, hazy yeast, moderate carbonation, and a flat-fading soapy white head. Aroma of sweet honey, sweet pale wort, maple and apple notes, plus a touch of alcohol and a nutty, buttery element. Medium sweetness, less so than anticipated, with low bitterness and some gentle alcoholic warmth. Texture is like warm, watery syrup. Not my thing.

Aroma is sickly sweet honeyish malt. Color is gold/yellow with a rapidily diminishing head. Flat and honey sweet. I don’t know if this is gone bad or if it’s as intended. It doesn’t taste infected, but it doesn’t taste like much else either except for the honey tinged maltiness.

sweet and almost tart was pretty nice overall i wouldn’t mind trying again sometime. Had a complex sweet/fruity taste good body.

No head to speak of. Faintly bitter, some citrus. Overall very weak, almost stale.

Very cool, black bottle. Contents are just right. This is a great lager, double bock. It’s appearance is a moderate golden color, providing a good fluffy head. Flavor was very nice, almost like honey or syrup was present. Taste complex. There was no ascorbic bite, so that’s nice.
