Bottle poured into pint glass from Harvest Market, Bedford, NH. Aroma is chocolate, earth, roasted malts. Appearance is opaque black with small ring of beige head and minimal lacing. Taste is moderately sour, citrusy, totally overpowering mild roasted, cocoa sweetness. Palate is light bodied with smooth texture, but dominant feature is immediate astringent feeling due to overwhelming sour. End of finish finally has some mild sweet chocolatey roastiness by itself. Overall, this would be good if you could skip from the aroma to the absolute end of the finish--yeah, pretty much ignore the whole tasting part. This was fairly difficult to get down. This has to be one of the worst beers I’ve had coming out of Vermont. Bulk_Carrier (6065) - Vermont, USA - FEB 26, 2014
Rcvd in trade.
The appearance is a dark brown colored body with less than a one finger white foamy head that doesn’t rise above the bulge in the glass. The head lasts less than thirty seconds.
The smell is very caramel forward (interesting as the bottle says "chocolate oatmeal stout"), but I have to admit it seems kinda off for the caramel tones coming out. After some warming up, I do get some roasty malts with some milk chocolate.
The taste is kinda bitter and zesty (I think I’m getting some lemon through the flavoring). There is a strange zesty lemon/orange yet somewhat chocolate caramel aftertaste (unsure how I really feel about this). There is no finish whatsoever.
On the palate, it sits light on the body to show a decent sessionable aspect to it. Carbonation is fairly high in this one, some vinous-like qualities impart a harshness rolling around the mouth and tongue to instill a harsh lemon quality on the palate.
Overall, this is interesting to say the least and exceptionally light for an oatmeal stout. There is not as much chocolate as expected by the side of the bottle. It would’ve been nice to see a date as I see its only 4.9% (I wonder when this was brewed last). Probably wouldn’t seek this out again (just something that didn’t fit quite right with this one), though its nice to try a brew from a company I’ve never had before. Pours a dark red, almost black with a 2 finger white head. Aroma close to Rochefort 10 and paint thinner. Stings the nose, but not from the alcohol, strange....Taste is very acidic, sour with some faint coffee. Way too much carbonation for a sweet stout. Surprised a brewery would sell a beer this unpleasant to drink. Don't waste your money. I had to drain pour most of it. A Bud Light would have been more enjoyable.

UPDATED: OCT 16, 2013 This is not a stout. This tastes like someone rung out a rag they used to soak up a spilled porter. AND BOTTLED IT!! Honestly, this is a drain pour. bigtaster (977) - Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA - SEP 24, 2013
From bottle, pours dark brown with a tan head. Nose is odd, there are some roasty almost smokiness to it, but also minerally and metallic, maybe some soy. Coco with some light chocolate flavors, really kind of bland with no defining characteristics. Body is light, not what I expect out of a good stout. with moderate carbonation. Underwhelming.

Wanted to try new beers so picked this up in a mixed 6 pack. Hopefully the other five will be better. This pours a lighter brown than a lot of stouts I drink. The smell reminds me of coffee. I don’t get a lot of chocolate in smell or taste. It has a burnt roast feel, and an acidic taste. Not much I liked about this at all. ICEatALAMO (1349) - Troy, Michigan, USA - AUG 26, 2013
Bottle. The aroma is mostly malt. The taste is a little thin and has a metal taste to it. A easy drinking stout.

Prominent, sharp carbonation but the texture is still relatively smooth. Aroma and flavor is more like an oatmeal... porter... than a stout. Big, toasted bread notes, some coffee, into a slightly acrid sweet and sour finish. Body is much lighter than expected for an oatmeal stout. The body combined with the carbonation makes this surprisingly refreshing, oddly. Silphium (3199) - Traverse City, Michigan, USA - APR 10, 2013
Bottle. Translucent deep orange-brown body, thin cream head. Woody nose, toasty with light chocolate sweetness; wispy. Thin body, acidic and somewhat biting, woody, with dark chocolate and roast. The wispy acidity is distracting. Not a very good stout.
