Draft at Smugglers Notch Inn. Pours a dark red color with a small off white head. Nose is lightly hoppy and piney with some light nutty malt notes. Palate is thin but filmy. Flavor is lightly hoppy and piney with some sweet nutty and caramel malt notes. Jblauvs (1357) - Chester, Vermont, USA - JUL 27, 2009
Orange, reddish pour with slight fizzy offwhite head. Aroma is toasted malt, some graininess which seems to be a distinct characteristic of this brewery, and a bit of straight nut. flavor is better, a tad bit sour with some sweet malt notes and a bit of nuttiness. Not so bad really, an Ok amber oteyj (2138) - New Hampshire, USA - JUL 23, 2009
Reddish brown pour with no head. Aroma is roasted malt some toast and sharp grain. Hop character is largely non-existent in the aroma. Flavor is somewhat sweet with dry roast. Some graininess as well. Palate is watery ending dry and chalky. Not overly impressed. Gabler (87) - , New York, USA - JUL 22, 2009
Bottle. Cloudy brownish pour. It’s body is kind of light for the maltiness that you get. It’s a very drinkable amber, if a little off-balanced. altonbrownd (5897) - Chevy Chase, Maryland, USA - FEB 26, 2009
From Brattleboro Co-op. Caramel body, slight oily head. Malty, sweet and sour nose. Taste is malty, but also quite sweet. Some dough in the finish. Not so sure about this one.

On tap at brewery. This is one of my favorites from a tasting had at the brewery or at least the one I most remember. I have had it in bottles a few times since and it has not seemed as good. Not sure if recipe changed or they just don’t take care of the stuff when it ships. Pwn3d (1958) - Manhattan, New York, USA - JAN 29, 2009
12 oz bottle. Not sure where I picked up this bitty, probably Stateline in MD. The pour is caramel, a little cloudy. Some sour tones in the nose, mostly hidden by the maltiness. Flavor is sweet, slightly sour, and doughy. Somewhat thin bodied, decent carbonation. TheGuy (920) - Illinois, USA - NOV 29, 2008

12 oz bottle-trade w/jjpm74. Cloudy amber color w/a foamy off white head w/lasted thru the brew. Sweet malt aroma. Light, malty flavored brew w/a touch of sweetness; traces of bread dough & slight fruit overtones. Smooth, easy drinking amber which would be a good sesson brew. Seems underrated to me; I’d love to try this on draft. Thanks John! Beerdedone (3452) - Croydon, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 4, 2008
Bottle. Pours a light amber with a small white head. Aroma of light malts, fruit, and notes of tart citrus. Sweet and malty flavor with light floral hops and a touch of caramel. Light bodied with a clean finish.
