The onlything I found in chinatown that was’t a pale lager, so it points for that. Pours a nice dark brwon with a medium beige head. Aroma of burnt malt. Flavor starts very sweet and finishes bitter and salty, almost llike soy sauce. Its unique for China, but there are much better beers in the world. coldbrewky (1730) - Hippetown East, New York, USA - MAR 26, 2007
One of these fell off the back of a truck and found its way to my house. Anyway, I’ve shied away from tring beer from China for they dont seem to be two words that belong together. Anywho....Not my idea of what a swartzbier should strive to be but lets face facts ....lots of things are lost in translation. A hint of asphalt and vanilla in bland underwhleming nose that pours into a unsophisticated brown. maybe it was a bit old or still upset from falling off the truck. who knows, still better then some I’ve had and probably the best stuff comercially available from those Commies. Bottle. Ruby colour with a nice beige head. Rich coffee aroma and taste with notes of roasted malts. A bit thin. WVHouseofBeer (1068) - West Virginia, USA - JUL 10, 2016
Well this was a pleasant surprise........it was actually a real beer with flavor and depth. It was still rather light bodied and not great but better than I was expecting from Tsingtao. Aromas and flavors of chocolate, some coffee, caramel and some light soy sauce. Pours a very dark brown with a small khaki head. wnp22 (698) - Toronto (Roncesvalles Village), Ontario, CANADA - AUG 4, 2004
Tasted in Toronto. Obtained from in-laws post Thailand/Hong Kong trip. Tasted in a dimple mug. Black colour, light white head almost immediately dissolves. Salty sweet aroma, over burnt caramel scent. Taste is on the bitter side, with a hint of roast malt but finishes very bitter.

Bottle. Dark brown colour with a short thin bubbly head. Bit roasty and sweet aroma. Flavour is quite sweet, bit toffee with roasted malts. Sweet dry finish. Beershine (5224) - VANCOUVER, British Columbia, CANADA - SEP 23, 2011
@ Qingdao beer festival. Black with nice brown head. Aroma and flavors are thin and sweet, but pretty nice. Fruity. Biitter orange with chocolate taste in finish. Thin and slightly sour. It almost wants to be a foreign stout but seems held back. Oakes (17685) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - OCT 17, 2004

Very dark brown with a thin light brown head. The aroma is caramelly with a little bit of chocolate syrup. Light caramel notes, a bit thin, almost cracker-like character.
Sampled bottled at Wei’s Pizzeria in Kunming, Yunnan
Dark chestnut colour with a huge, thick, light brown head. The aroma has a light roastiness and appetizing leafy hoppiness. The body is moderately full with rich malty flavours of nuts, dark chocolate, and light coffee. One of the finer schwarzbiers I’ve had. 8-5-8-5-17 = 4.3
of all local beer brands,it may have the best tatse.but compared to germany black beer,it’s nothin’. Nnudd (69) - Helsinge, DENMARK - AUG 5, 2008
