Bottle at the hotel in Xining. You can’t believe Chinese beers could get any wrse but they keep on coming. This was thin slightly fizzy cold water with a negligible alcohol kick. Fizzy water would have been nicer in every way.

Another Tsingtao 8ºP available in abundance and yet again labelled differently. Strained yellow gold and headless. A litte palest grain, rice husks and dried mown grass on the nose, relatively clean otherwise. Foamy mouthfeel, very light bodied but gassy and heavy in the stomach leaving me in need of a good belch. Light grain, rather clean across the palate. Grassy, weedy and tinny late with a sourness that gives it a tang as it warms. Watery overall, but nothing too offensive. Hits the spot! Bottle @ random resturant in Kurshan. Pours very light yellow with a fast fading white head. Aroma and taste of weak malt, light grain, weak notes of lemon. Thin watery body, lively carbonation. 030112

At Papsoe’s pre CPH Beer Fest tasting, cheers Henrik! Very pale gold beer. Watery malt, not much else. Crisp is the only good thing about it!

A plae lager with a thick receeding white head. In aroma, nice fresh grains, quite surprised. In mouth, a decent euro-asian lager, with nice grain notes. 640 ml bottle at Charms Hotel Restaurant, Oct. 20 2010.

Can. A light golden beer with a thin white head. The aroma has light notes of malt and rice. The flavor is sweet with very light notes of malt and rice. The body is thin. Thanks Papsoe for sharing.

Bottle 500ml.
Clear light yellow color with a average, frothy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, white head. Aroma is light to moderate malty, bread, grain, vegetable. Flavor is light sweet and light light bitter with a average to short duration. Body is light, texture is watery, carbonation is soft. [20090514]

Bottle (in Xi’an). Very very pale clear yellow with no head. Intense pilsner style hoppy aroma with metallic and grassy notes. Thin with little carbonation. The flavour is bad. It is of the Asian style where they strive to remove the beer flavour. It is like soda water with a hint of beer and that hint is slightly hoppy with a hint of citrus; malt is entirely missing. Having said all that, there is nothing actually unpleasant (other than it being a sad caricature of a beer, for people who don’t like beer): for what it is I have tasted far worse in this style. Absolutely cannot be recommended, but if desperate for a beer I would have another
