UPDATED: APR 23, 2012 Medium brown head. Nearly opaque black body goes deep brown at edges. Caramelly metallic aroma with licorice and chocolate notes. Dry-sweet malty caramelly taste with roasty notes. Fullish body. Mild, soft, and fizzy mouthfeel with some heat. Dryish minty roasty licorice aftertaste with chocolatey toffee pudding notes. Nice, drinkable, mellow. (0.355l bottle, Wellcome, Lohas Park, Hong Kong. Also shared by hcalsos.) caesar (7133) - Bunnik/Utrecht, NETHERLANDS - MAY 27, 2009
Bottled, thx to NoiZe. Dark color, short head. Aroma of caramel, toasted malt, slight hop. Very salty taste, licorice. Liquid sweet licorice. Salty palate. Beer5000 (6483) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - AUG 29, 2010
355 ml bottle. Dark brown, almost black body with a medium sized, dense, creamy, brown head. Aroma of dark, sweet malt, roasted coffee and mocha. Flavor is sweet, roasted malt, creamy coffee like latte, some dry fruit and a bit sour-bitter. Quite nice, but a bit too sweet and sour kind of flavor. luttonm (6271) - Seattle, Washington, USA - MAR 30, 2017
Bottle in Seattle. Thanks to my brother for bringing it back from Qingdao itself. Foamy head, quite dark red-brown body. Odd beer, frankly. Round fruity sweetness in the middle of this, with some bitter cocoa at finish. Cardboard mouthfeel, a little watery. Not terrible but nothing too redeeming about this. jgb9348 (6250) - Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA - MAR 19, 2012
Deep dark brown coloured body with a nice, two centimetre tall but fading fast light brown head. Aroma of chocolate, raisins, caramel and a touch of a bit of roasted malt. Medium to Full-bodied; Deep chocolatey malt flavour at first with some nuts, caramel, toffee and a lot of prunes. Aftertaste is quite robust with nothing large and opaque, just a nice earthy, malty flavour with a ton of sweetness and a decent amount of alcohol coming through - especially for the brewery, you don’t expect this at all. Overall, a rather nice stout with some good true flavours with a long-lasting flavour that would go well with some earthier flavoured food here. I sampled this 33cL can purchased from CitySuper! Grocery Store at 2 IFC in Central, Hong Kong, SAR China on 10-August-2010 sampled at home in Washington a few days before setting back out to Hong Kong, in which I could imagine drinking this with some noodles from Tsim Chai Kee or Mak’s a few blocks away on Wellington in Central.

Can @ Joes. Brown colour with a small light brown head. Chocolate, roasty, some coffee. Tastes sweetish, roasty, coffee and a hint of chocolate. Pretty subtle. Medium body, nice carbo. skortila (5850) - Baarn, NETHERLANDS - MAY 26, 2009
Bottled. Tnx Noize for the import. Aroma has liquorice, some roast, grains. Clear, black coloured beer with a thin head. The taste has some roast, malts, liquorice. Bit salty soy like. Very funny commercial description. probably typical for the Chinese. Mao’s red book was also such a laugh. I’m afraid they are serious. TimE (5809) - Tokyo, JAPAN - APR 24, 2015
Dark brown color. Port, dark fruit, brown sugar and raisins dominate the nose. Actually quit a nice nose. The mouth shows some dark chocolate, raisins, almost like a Baltic Porter, but ingredients are very mainstream. Beershine (5224) - VANCOUVER, British Columbia, CANADA - JAN 15, 2010
Bottle. Pours thin and brown, not stouty looking at all. See-through with a short head both in length and stature. Mild chicory, carob, and roasted rice aroma. Light palate. Roasty and dark chocolate bitterness in the nice flavors. Not a bad beer but does not seem like a stout.
